holster and death

my questions are unrelated to each other but things i have been wondering. firstly what is the holster for? and secondly, what do you lose, if anything, when you die? i know you can steal items from people youve just pked so thats one way, but ive also heard you lose exp when you die. is this true, some people say it is and others dont? if you do, thats sucks because you have to kill yourself when you get stuck somewhere.

firstly what is the holster for?

Holsters and sheaths allow quick access to weapons. If you have nothing in your hands, but something in your holster: You can press the "wear" key and the sword/knife/dagger will pop into your hands!

secondly, what do you lose, if anything, when you die?

As of 1.3, nothing. This may or may not change in the future.

IIRC you lose a smidge of exp.

how much is a 'smidge'. is it a certain percentage? does it increase with your level? what skillsis it deducted it from. about the holster, i already knew that about the sheaths, but i cant seem to put a dagger in a holster (at least not the hugger). whats the difference between belt sheath, back sheath and holster then?

The really cool weapons need the snakeskin sheath/holster

whats the difference between belt sheath, back sheath and holster then?

Changes where it's kept. If you have a backpack, you can't use a backsheath and visa-versa.
