I definitely wouldn't mind starting a new character to try out any new classes that you come out with

Agreed. These are very good ideas.

This is the biggest leap in the development I have seen!

I love the Ideas for experience gain of the Races, I think I may start over as an elf! This is the greatest leap, and I thank all who are involved from the bottom of my heart for developing this game over the year(s).

The one thing I didn't like....Elves should get some exp from scrolls...not a lot...but some....

This is a concept thread, man. None of this has been implemented ;-)

Awesome stuff... Though should dwarves actually have the Martial Arts attribute? Seem a little short handed for hand-to-hand combat.

My mistake...although I am a bit out of whack when it comes to mental power because I have an extreme lack of sleep due to many....many...things going on...I retract all previous statements, even the complements. nah...leave them...I'll be kind....

Dwarven drunk fights >.>

Gate City for Dwarves, That elven town thingy for Elves and, uh, Varead or whatever human town there is/will be.

I think that everyone should be able to use scrolls since its a matter of reading, unless ofcourse you thought of a quest where you actually get to learn how to read.
Have to give you that this is simply brilliant, hope to see it ingame in the future.

Gate City (and probably whatever elven city you're talking about) would have to be revamped a little to accommodate new players. In other words, make a cave with rats etc.

A thought occurs:
If an Elven player so chooses to follow the mage path, will said player be able to ticket items out on the field? Cause that would own. Think of the enterprise :D

My information.
Hahah... I hope something like that doesn't happen... it'll make certain races abused for exploits (that will inevitably arise)... but it'd still be awesome to see such new races. (I already know what I'd do... Elven Blade)

I like these Ideas but what if elves rebond with a previously debonded weapon? (In other words. If someone gets to level 10 in short sword, Unbind it, and rebind it will the exp be reset?) They will have to keep their level or else an exploit could be created. Elves unbinding/rebinding weapons from level 1-2 to get Infinite health/mana.

That would be bad and throw the game extremely out of balance. Other then that thought everything seems Ok. I don't like the idea of Restarting with a new character and beating the crap out of rat's/boar's/skelly's for about 15 levels to be able to start doing maps. But at least progress is being made in the concept department.

I really like the idea of new races, but...

It's great that in the future that it may be possible to play other races, but I am concerned about the balance of introducing them into the game and how it will affect the play of MSC. Of course everyone who's been playing this game is going to start a new character of 1 or even 2 of these races, I know I will. Heck, I'd be willing to give up my "mule" character so that I have both races. That being said, I can easily see that in the next couple of months of game-play that all I will see is someone playing a dwarf or an elf. The only time that I'll see a "human" character is when he/she is farming for something for their elf or dwarf character. Unless of course I happen upon someone who's playing for the first time.

I like the concept of the new races, as it does make them different from the norm as it's been so far, but I find it odd that the stats for the other races would be so few. I feel it would be better to use the stats that is used for the humans and use that as a base to modify if you are a dwarf or an elf. For instance dwarves should get bonuses to say strength and fitness, but a minus to agility and wisdom (thou I'm not sure about that last one, as I don't know what all the stats do in game) and elves could get a bonus to agility and concentration, but a minus to strength and fitness. This way the character description page wouldn't be so different from what we're used to seeing and you could see more of an interesting character progression. I'm also not exactly saying that the stats shouldn't go up like humans, as I think they should, but the "math" behind the stats should be different for the 2 races. For instance a dwarf could get say + 10-20% for strength and fitness, but - 10-20% for agility and wisdom and do the same for elves.

As for how the HP and experience will work out for the 2 new races I am concerned that the 2 new races could be overpowered as compared to a human character when they get to 20+ level.

The dwarf, they get xp for all weapon stats. This will make them very hard to level, as they will have to split there xp to all their weapon stats, but at the same time they can use whatever weapon they want at anytime to get xp. However, as I've been trying to keep my character well rounded in all my weapons I find the dwarves have a great advantage that they don't have to grind away with any one weapon in order to level a weapon. It makes it easier for dwarves to use whatever weapon is best for a given situation and not be concerned about where the xp is going as compared to a human. Maybe that because of there "generalist" nature, but that is a great advantage over a human.

As for elves, they get 1 hp and 10 mana for every level of their 8 bonded weapons and spells, where humans get anywhere from 2-9(maybe 10) for every 2 levels of all there stats and 10 mana for every 2 SC or parry. It seems to me that elves will have a lot more hp and mana than a human would if each were say 10th level in all of there skills.

I'm not trying to shoot down your idea's for the new races Thothie, I like how you are making them very different from the human race. I just don't want to see that those who know the game feel that playing a human character in the end is not going to be a real powerful character like one of the other races and all I see playing the game is some non-human character.

awesome!
slay, i wouldnt be worried about the game becomming inbalanced, as msc is (hopefully) still being developed after the putatively approaching introduction of races.
I guess the purpose of the presented Ideas rather is to give a clue of possibilitys and of course to presend those ideas and they dont claim to be perfectly elaborated especially concerning game-balance

I like the Idea of different skill-training a lot. otherwise the gameplay wouldnt be that different. And i cant imagine that a way of balancing it wont be found.

Hey, I get it...

Hey, I like the approach of making the 2 other races different from the game-play as it is right now, as it wouldn't make playing them interesting if it wasn't. So far the ideas for the 2 new races sound real cool and I definitely look forward to trying them out. I'm just hoping that when they are introduced so that many changes won't have to be made to make them more balanced. It wouldn't be fun to see the new races having to be changed a lot as it's discovered that they get way too powerful and have to be toned down. I know I've made more than one comment about something being "nerfed", and I know I don't enjoy it, but I enjoy even less liking something in the game to have it changed so it's weaker. But, thats only been a weapon, spell or item, and in most cases I can use other things. To have your character changed so that it's weaker, because it's deemed to be unbalanced, you can't "fix" it by using something else. If anything, I'd like to see the 2 races come out underpowered and if changes are made to them, that they are made more powerful to match the human characters. The last time Thothie made changes to the characters itself was great, as it made them more powerful, and it's what I'd rather have happen to the new races.

hey maybe since elves are so atuned to they're magic/weapon maybe they should be able to cast spells while holding a 1 handed weapon and only small spells like maybe fire dart?

Great idea, but that would also bring me to the following question: Is there ever going to be a 'kick' button, so you don't have to change to a MA weapon when you want to kick?

Which brings me to yet another question. Assuming MA is a complex skill as in RL, couldn't we incorporate more devastating, level dependent, left/right click combos and even grappling maneuvers/grabs/throws? What about the possibility of disarming the enemy?
