ITS'aME'aMARIO!!!!
New Adventurer
I don't want a wipe as much as any other but I think we need one... or will eventually....
reasons:
Who has dark armor? EVERYONE What is dark armor "supposed" to be? Like near top tier, mucho difficult to get, very high up there. What is the point of Knight's armor and other armor's when Dark is pretty much accessable to most people... If you are going to buy knights armor it's only for the time that it takes you to get dark armor, a short time. (like a few days)
New players... HARDLY ANY! well that first wipe threat had scared them all away... but right now, All the strong people wanting to go to all of the new
custom maps built solely for strong characters, are scaring away all the new people who don't have a chance at surviving a single hit from a dwarf zombie... who does 25.0 dmg at a fast rate to me with "dark armor" which is quite a lot even though i have 507 hp and a shield... practically every map aside past the "vanilla" maps are built for people who invest into all weapons and have 15+ sc
Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like being Mr. Jack-of-all-Trades... But when I first started playing I would shoot for a cool title... Knight, Punisher, Assasin, etc. When someone told me I have to invest into everything to be as strong as they were... It totally fucking killed it... ("it" as in thinking i can be strong as well as cool)
I'll try and put this in the perspective of someone new coming to play this game:
Wow, this game is pretty awesome. I'm gonna use swords AND a bow. I am gonna be badass! shooting arrows and then slicing up anyone who survives and gets close enough. Heck yes! I'm a Ranger! Oh! wow that guy is really strong.... I can't believe he is taking on that tough monster over there all by himself... wow...
"Hey, *****and-so how much hp do you got?"
"535"
"Wow!
I only have like 127"
"lol"
"What combination gets 'Sheild Warrior'?"
"Parry + BA"
"Wow! what level are your stats?"
"20+ in each"
"
wow"
I never wanted to be a Ranger, I think my friend did, I wanted to be a Knight or Punisher. But now this new person gives up their cool title to be stronger...
I know, I know... This is how Master-sword is SUPPOSED to be right?
I have some ideas... I think they may be quite awesome...
1st idea:
Your title affects your exp gain.
i.e. Swordman gains 2x exp from using swords but gains .5x exp from blunt and axe. Swordmaster gains 2.5x exp gain and then 1x exp from blunt and axe. Knight gains 1.5x exp gain from sword and axe, then .5x from blunt
I think this will encourage a player to specialize in something early on and then when even the 2.5x exp gain slows or hp isn't cutting it against current trainable monsters they'll want to choose another skill to back up their first. There are still many loopholes or ways to bypass this idea for a system such as, training in all weapons first, then changing to swordman, After changing to swordmaster raising everything up before becoming knight....
The socalled "rusty" weapons can either be renamed "training" weapons (in the description ofcourse keep it being considered rusty, and it will ofcourse stay looking rusty)
[THIS STUFF WILL MAKE MOST PEOPLE MAD WHO LIKE MASTERSWORD FOR THE LACK OF BOUNDARY IN WHAT YOU "CAN" USE]
The first weapon you choose is the only kind of weapon you can use until you become level 10 in it... then you are a "master" and can choose another if you want to...
You can only use the training weapon of each weapon class until you become a class of that title.
All weapon skills lay "dormant" other than the one you are currently training in or using as your "title weapon(s)" hp and stat bonuses dormant as well
Certain weapons and/or rare/powerful weapons can only be used by certain "Master Title"s or "Hybrid Title"s
Titles are changeable or resetable by way of npc + money (i'm shooting for making visits to an Urualian temple worthwhile... talking to priests w/o fear of molestation)
Don't wanna add this as another separate "idea"
Parry doesn't affect your title at all... BUUUUT it is the ONLY stat/skill that you keep nomatter what weapon sets you have.
2nd idea:
slight/more than slight nerf and/or decrease in # of all monsters in non vanilla maps +additions as of msc...
Most monsters are easily soloed... TOO easily... I'm not saying make every monster a team effort to kill... but at least put them near to the levels players would be at to encourage teamwork...
3rd idea:
The common items from chests, especially the ones after bosses drop their supposed rare/powerful items at a lowered rate (please not lower for tork! >_< well... maybe) and these rare and powerful items from chests actually SELLABLE for a nice quantity of gold to merchants, ofcourse a player will always pay a lot more for it... unless they are stupid...
4th idea:
Magic... hmmm... Offensive and Defensive magic can be different skills or have strength in one or the other affect title. (ideas for titles:
offensive = darkmage
offensivemastery = blackmage (is a color + mage copyright by SquareEnix?)
BA + off = Soul Crusher
S + off = Dark Knight
Ax + off = Soul Reaper
SA + off = Spirit Ripper
Ma + off = Demonhand
Ar + off = Archer Arcana =P
defensive = lightmage
defensivemastery = whitemage
offensive + defensive = wizard
BA + def = Cleric or Paladin
S + def = White Light or Silver Light (can runescape sue too?)
Ax + def = Light Epsilon (ragnarok too?)
MA + def = Monk,Divine Monk or Angelhand (for balance)
SA + def = Silent Guardian
Ar + def = Quincy!!? JK!! Piercing Light (Bleach, for those who dunno)
Hmmm... well as of now I have no more ideas that'll piss people off buuuuut I'll try and explain the character thingy more:
(this is partially the same and different to my earlier stuff)
Idea #1
Billy starts off as an adventurer, he chose a sword as his first weapon... Billy recieves a Rusty Training sword and starts mangling rats gaining 1x exp... He trys some other rusty weapons that he buys but he finds that he likes swords the most. He becomes a swordsman and his exp gaining is now 2x while using swords... He again trys other weapons but finds that they only recieve half exp now... Billy decides to use swords for a while longer and now is a swordmaster he now gains 2.5x exp! Billy trains with swords some more... His gain in swords has slowed down but his training in other skills is back to 1x rate. Billy raises his axehandling next, as it is his second favorite weapon skill, to 5 and he recieves the barbarian 2x exp bonus and then the 25x exp bonus when it is at 10. Finally Billy's axe handling catches up to swordmanship and he has the nice hp gain he has been benefitting all along and also a 2.5x gain for axes and swords!
(still can't think of an idea for discouraging an even raising after a mastery... OH! All skills other than your title skill or current weapon recieve negative exp... if more than one weapon used to kill a foe... more damaging weapon gains exp difference between other weapon exp used.)
Idea#2
Billy is an adventurer and chooses the sword as his starting weapon... When he opens his player stats only swordmanship is lit up and all other skills are in gray. When he swings a weapon that isn't his current trainable skill he has misses 100% Billy trains and becomes a swordman allowing him to equip swords better than the training sword he was is using and. When Billy gets to level 10 in his swordmanship he is able to weild but doesn't necessarily have access to much more powerful or rare swords... But Billy who has only started this game doesn't have one. So Billy goes to a Priest of Urdual and for a small fee chooses a new training weapon... what!? a spell? Billy trains in offensive magic but his title still stays Sword Master. While he is training offensive magic Billy's hp bonuses from sword and stats are not calculated but he keeps his parry ability. Billy's sword and other equipment are stored in the bank. When Billy's off. magic is at 5 he gains access to more spells similar to what he gained in swordmanship with weapons. And at 10 off. magic he recieves a mastery allowing him to use a few new spells but not as powerful or as rare as the ones he would gain as a pure off. magic user. Billy's title changes to Dark Knight and he now gains exp from swords and magic. Billy continues to play and decides that he wants to be able to use blunt arms. So Billy goes to an Urdualian priest and pays a greater fee than before and is able to use a training hammer. Billies hp and stat bonuses are again revoked and he still keeps his now higher parry skill while he trains in blunt. At 5 he gains weapons, at 10 he gains more but not as strong as a pure. Billy talks to the priest and chooses 2 skills out of the 3 to excel in. He chooses Blunt and Sword and becomes a Cavalier, and gains exp from blunt arms as well as swords... his spell casting hp, mana, and stat bonuses are not returned and his magic level is still a decent number but it is greyed out.
WOOT! for somewhat complicated or confusing systems that will prolly not work with MSC.... and are probably not desired too either!
Thank you for reading this far (skimmer/skippers imma cut off ur legs at the kneecaps!)
I am amazed I wrote that much too...
Feel free to ignite the fires and burn mario in ur flames...
