Re: Unholy Blade

It's funny how after I said I see Thothie's point that all the people who have a problem with MA come out of the woodwork.

Also, if you want a kick button, make it a knockback kick only, with less damage. Leave the stun kick for MA's charge, otherwise MA's first charge becomes useless. I've been dicking about trying to make two seperate kick animations for this express purpose, but no such luck.

Re: Unholy Blade

It's funny how after FER said he thinks there's a gap in the martial arts weapon set that all the people who do or do not agree with this came out of the woodwork.

If you *really* want to fix people leveling so fast, why don't you just introduce something that cuts all XP gains by a cumulative 20% for each hour past the first played during each 24hr period? Oh, and a FN reset! And force players to sit to regain stamina while making them unable to attack when their stamina goes below their weight bar! That'll fix everything for sure!

I think it's quite a bit kinder just to continue to deny more mid-tier weapons somehow. ;)

Plus a character wipe doesn't really solve anything long-term - just short-term - hence my usual railing against them.

Should point out that part of the point of having the harder-to-level stats be non-game-critical is so it doesn't cripple your character too much, if you don't spend time on them right away. So adding anything that makes them more important at earlier levels, is also cruel.

We already can stun everything at will. Press Q, then kick.
I could ask, "Then why bother?" However, it means slotting your weapon, charging a kick, and pulling the old weapon again. Admittedly, it's something I do quite often with a hammer and quickslots, when I'm leveling a weaker skill (Bluntarms stun lasts a lot longer than MA stun, and doesn't have the same limitations), but it lets the opponent get several hits on you meantime, and if one of those is an inventory-blocking stun, you run the risk of being screwed. The ability to tap another key and do it at will would be quite another beast, even though, I'm sure everyone would just love to have it.

You have to take into account that not only blunts need 2 charge levels to perform the stun but also the slow attack animation (have to wait awhile until it starts to attack), and the short stun time.
For some reason Kicks have longer range and are fast to perform and charge. I must say when this was added I was amazed how cool it was and still is, even when it overshadowed the only thing that made blunts unique.
I wont deny blunt has really powerful weapons, its just that their blunt unique properties are somewhat pointless now.

I certainly wouldnt mind weapons having less special abilities and sticking only to damage and basic upgrades (leaving the special powers to rare equipment) in exchange for more specialized uses (sword being normal use, MA being weak with high mobility, SA being fast, Axe being abe to hit multiple monsters [like the jump attack with bnormal hit damage, lower accuracy to compensate], blunt for stunning, polearm for fending off monsters and archery for ranged.

Oh, I did not actually realize that the blunt arms stun lasted longer than the MA stun. That makes them quite a bit more useful than I had given them credit for. Also, what are the 'limitations' you mention?

MA kick stuns for 1sec/3 MA levels (Max 20 secs [13w/cur level cap]), and has an increasingly reduced chance of stunning anything with 1000hp or more.

Blunt stuns for 1sec/level (Max 45 secs [40w/cur level cap]), and hp isn't a factor. (Plus your accuracy goes up on Bluntarms stun attempts, though the damage goes slightly down [though still bound to be more damage than kick].) Plus bluntarms can do that at proficiency 5, while MA requires 20 for a 3 second stun, and of course, bluntarms gives mass hp, while MA gives crap.

Stun and cold-slow stack, so if you can drag a monster into a blizzard and stun him, he'll move at 25% speed, and you're basically free to pound on him for a good while. Doesn't work on everything, obviously, but there aren't many monsters that resist bluntarms stun, so it's a good way to deal with many beasts that outclass you.

But you'd know all this, if you hadn't spent all that time exploiting Umulak. ;) {j/k}

Yes, it would help if I'd stop adding weapons that go well outside their intended field of abilities.

Eh couldn't you just make some point system for getting items....

like instead of player X doing map "Blah blah" 11 times to get item B and getting 10 of item A in the process of getting item B allowing player X to twink 10 of item A.

so that player X does map "blah blah" 11 times to earn 11 points to buy reward B and not get 10 item A's...

catch my drift? meh i hate fourms

I thought it was a bad idea and wouldn't fit into the game at all.

Ah sh!t how did I miss this little gem of a thread?

Where do I start about this stupid fuck ing game...

Why is stuff being nerfed, I mean, it's retarded, its like the devs have it out for me! Also, I want skill X changed to better suit my whatever. Also, I proposed a godlike playable character dubbed Red Cell in game and it wasn't even looked at!? Also, why aren't the dev's being paid to work on this game and having to deal with whiny bullsh!t? Also, why can't you guys accommodate for X and Y? Do you d!ckholes have lives or something? You're acting like we're playing on an outdated engine with limitations or something. Give me a break here. I play the game, therefore I have the right to complain about everything in the game. Also, why are there holes in the plot of the game? You're acting like this game has been passed around like a cheap whore by different dev teams. Also, I expect you to do everything I say even though I will contribute nothing beneficial to the actual development of this mod.

Even I don't know...
I agree with Red Cell as well, except that I think we should change the lore to be about just exactly HOW mystical and enchanting all the minor details are. Go into detail about what are the chemical components of the bricks used at the foundation of Deralia's walls.

Please fix or I will rage quit life!

Sandy clay consisting of silicate of alumina, lime magnesia, and iron oxide. These are mixed with water and tempered with a tempering wheel worked by horse power, until the mixture becomes soft and plastic, and is then taken out and pressed into molds by hand. Coal dust or sawdust is added to assist the burning and coloration where desired, depending on the aesthetic location within the city. After being shaped in the mold, the bricks are laid in the sun to dry for three or four days, after which they are stacked in kilns and fired.

Somewhere over the rainbow.
Alternatively, offer the smithy 87 fshards, 204 blood drinkers, 32 unholy blades, and a plance, and you get one brick.

Yes, they are good, but i find them pretty much useless to use unless you use a protection potion to supply with a long duration shield, otherwise its not worth it.

yea, I use potions to cover that, or even get a friend to shield me

personally I think all the skills are balanced, MA is difficult to level but in the long run leads to one of the most usefull weapons in the game

spellcasting of course is a special case
