On a side note, you CAN post teasers (screen shots, concept art, etc.) in your entry, but come voting time, your source materials should be added to them if you'd like your entry to be voted on.

Now that I think of it, I could go back to my old internship and recruit a bunch of mental patients from College Hospital to develop for us.

You'd be amazed how many game developers wind up in the mental hospital.

You do not need to make new content for this contest, however, the entry must be unreleased prior to December 1, 2012 (the start of the contest). So if it's a WIP, no matter how old, and you want to complete it and enter it into the contest, you can.

Could you answer ceriux's question. It's not exactly my area of expertise, okay I have no idea what it means.

Eh, here's my two cents, and I'll let you decide...

OBJ's area simplistic model file type... They don't include bones, and are usually used for transferring simple meshes from one modeling program to another.

Since it doesn't have any bones, it won't have any animations, but in most cases, it's a simple enough matter to stick the inanimate weapon into an existing animation on the player's hand.

The fact that one can't export an SMD, however, makes it suspect that it's not their model. There are simple SMD exporters for nearly every modeling program, and nearly every modeling program can load OBJ files.

So, in short, yes, we could use it, though it wouldn't be optimal, but it also kinda makes me wonder where the model came from. Not that a lot of our sh*t isn't stolen, but when submitting models to a contest...

Also, regarding maps, we don't have to have everything done right? The problem I have is that I've yet to talk to Thoth about scripts n shit so my GoldCove (or whatever the frick I name it) will just have brushwork, lighting, and very minimal ents in it for the judging period.

considering the devs decide what does and doesnt go into a map anyways, its probably what they want. i'm pretty positive the content competition is more of an art competition. otherwise i dont think it would be very fair. considering its a lot easier to make a model or a skin vs a full map.

Obviously we wouldn't require the maps to be completely playable since it requires quite a bit of collaboration and testing to get them into the game. Just think of it as your, and only your entry. Anything that requires the work of others need not be judged, so don't even fret about it!

Just be glad I'm not one of the map judges, as if by some miracle there is more than one map come March, and I had to choose between one that was populated, and one that wasn't - guess who the winner would be.

Just an update for voting in Section 1, the judge Blasto121 won't be able to do the judging for this section, so we have asked Rickler to take his place.
