Heres 2 pics, front and back, of the pirate model that I've been working on for a while. I'm gonna be fixing up the skin a lot, then I'll rig and animate him ^.^. Props to Gaz for telling me just about everything wrong with it... 1,214 tris

I think red stripes would look funny with that jacket... He's not a skirmish pirate. I thought the texturizer looked nice You want to skin him? I'll be almost completely redoing the skin, so I'm open for suggestions

Redoing the skin. Havn't touched his face yet, heres his new look. He's a rather patriotic pirate.

You may want to desaturate the colours a bit (Ctrl + U in Photoshop (with the right layer selected))

Heres a quick switch to black, I'll fix it up a bit so the shading looks more like it did on the red.

edit: I hate working with black

Use quite dark grey, so you can still add a layer of material detail

Lol pvk2. Maybe I should've gone for more of that look rather than a shiny leather jacket.

edit: With all layers on and zoomed out, he looks like this. I think this is about what I want him to look like. Red jacket did not work.

Good basic shading on the coat! Now add some trimmings

A little bit more detail. The lace at the wrists doesn't look so good, but it's getting there. I think I'll add buttons and be done with the jacket. I'm getting tired of looking at his blank face.

Pegleg should be an occasional submodel , not all pirates lost their leg

Yar, he be a classy pirate. Short coats are certainly easier for animation. I don't suppose you'd prefer the trench coat..

edit: so after adding necessary polys for the coat animation and deleting unseen polys, I'm at 1,240 tris
