Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

The download window that is constantly staring at me already makes me go like "Wow, awesome update!" and I believe we've already had tons of "Best updates ever", but this one has to be the... best update ever of the best updates ever!

Amazing job, once again

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

Yes, I used Info.MaxHP instead of MaxHP() because I didn't want to have to call that function every few seconds on every player. I was trying to save MSC from some unnecessary intensive function. If you die it will correct itself.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

Yeah, although sadly I just remembered, I still had to do MaxHP() on the update end because MaxHP is not a member of scoreinfo_t in that context. :\ (Probably could be added, somehow, someway though)

I'd be thinking m_MaxHP - but the notation on it says it should not be used for that purpouse. :/

No slapping. Slapping is made of cheat and exploit ;-)

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

I'd still say it's shadey. Not worth the risk of the "one perfect slap" just so you can get some aggression out on a player. Kick/Ban should be fine. admin_gag may be good, but there could be some problems involved with that.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

And add an "admin_gagball" and whenever the guy speaks, everything he types gets replaced with "Mmmfhm mmffmmh!"
Or just admin_slay.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

Before anyone suggests any other admin-punishment commands, think about it this way: "If someone used this on me, would it stop me from getting a chest/other reward I deserve?" That covers at least the past few suggestions.

My original admin_gagball is the best punishment by far.

I think you meant to say "it will only be misused if the admin is bad", and believe me, there are plenty of people out there that would do it.

I’m trying to think of an equivalent of amx_slap that wouldn’t be exploitable. One thought I had was some sort of flashy screen fade and some nasty sounding admin “stfu.wav” or some such – but rig it so it wouldn’t work in the server was in PVP mode, so you couldn’t use it to blind opponents, or whatnot. But as MIB says, yeah, I also see some d*ck admins out there using it to kill players going for treasure, or to laugh at players trying to work their way past treacherous pits and the like – which was a problem with amx_slap, even with the delay.

admin_gag shouldn’t be too hard, but it’d involve setting a flag on the player that could be read where the text displays (or checking him for a script var). I suspect, however, any angry player you gag is just going to leave the server anyways – midas well kick him and be done with it.

admin_slay – umm… That’s pretty much straight out, as fun as it is to have lighting bolts come down from the sky and kill llama’s and all, I could see potential exploits with it, even outside of PVP mode.

Re: Beta-package Update News & Discussion

More than anything, I'd like to see a good HTML <MOTD> and an amx_llama type command that could be used to stop bickering, begging and b**ching!
