I'd just like to say that thanks to all of your donations the site is now paid for in full for the next two and a half years! Thanks to everyone who donated!
Hello all, Kuroneko here...
MSRemake.com has been running for almost 4 years now. Originally created back in 2005 by a couple of old school guys who played (and illegally modded) the old Master Sword back in the day. We had just managed to con one of the old developers to hand over the source code aswell as the source to many of the original maps.
At first, all we did was tinker around with the little things. Fixed a few of the minor bugs and threw in a half-arsed magic system. When it came right down to it, we were just ecstatic to be able to play with some of the inner workings of the game that we had abused years before.
Out first break came when Dogg, the (as far as many of us are concerned) original coder, approached us and offered to work on the code again for Master Sword Continued. Suddenly, many of the big bugs vanished, a real magic system was made, all sorts of new features were being added left and right. And all was right with the world.
Around that same time we managed to get a few talented artists on the team. Ewok, ConArtist among others got many of the maps and models up to par with what Half-Life players expect to see on GoldSource now-a-days. We started throwing out eye candy and the community grew more and more by the day.
On New Years Eve 2005 we fininally got the first full release out the door and (as Monty Python put it) there was much rejoicing. People were having fun exploring a world that was much like they knew before but at the same time so different than what they had before. Most maps had been completely overhauled, enemies acted a little different than they remember ("Hey, why is that skeleton getting back up?"), and entirely new areas were opened up. Helena was no longer under constant siege, and Deralia was no longer just a name.
About nine months after the release of 1.0, the project was handed off the Thothie to continue expanding and fixing MSC and once again abusing it into what it is today (no offense intended to any of you, it's what we did to the ones before us, it's what we expected of you
)
But enough about the history, here is my current plight. During the entirety of the site being online, I have been paying for this site out of my own pocket. Recently, due to forces beyond my control, my finances have taken a turn for the worst. Sadly, I am unable to continue keeping this site online by myself and will have to let the server rental lapse in August.
However, there is hope. Also for the entirely of the site being online, there has been a donation link. During that time I have received 15USD in donations from two people. Sadly, that doesn't quite offset the amount it costs to run the site (which is closer to 10x that, per year). What this all boils down to is if I can raise 150USD in donations in the next two months, I can keep the site going. If not, it will have to go dark.
Please donate to MSRemake.com, 100% of the donations received go to keeping this site online. Please don't let this site die out after it's nearly 4 years history of keeping RPG gaming alive on the GoldSource engine.
