that game need more newbies game because when you are newb, you don"t know where to go and in lots of server, there is only high xp players who play really fast the quest and don let you the time to have fun.

That's true. However, you also need pros to do anything. You won't be able to find items since you're trying to play alone or with a friend, and you need a vet to even tell you that...

Oops.. Didn't mean to... Server migrated boxes... I put your ban in the server.cfg, rather in the limited_hp.cfg.

Ye can find items just fine if you have enough friends. Granted, you can't reach the better items without major pain without a l337 escort - but that's true of all MMORPG's, and should be intuitive.

The problem is, this isn't an MMORPG. We'll never have enough players to be able to walk through town and yell "LFG 15-18". No one is going to get 5 friends to try out the game all at the same time. I have only ever managed to get two-three other people playing with me and I think that's pretty good. It was difficult and still a grind but it was fun with friends. We didn't care if someone already had the best equipment. We enjoyed playing the game because it was fantastic on it's own. If you make it so that you can only play a game with a large number of people, it'll never hit off. The idea is to make it so that people can play in small groups to start and then join up with others once they have a feel for the game. Communities start small and grow if the small group sticks around.

I don't even know why I'm complaining because I don't have any solutions. Personally, I just think that it should be catered less to holding onto the highest level members in the community and more on getting new players. New content is great but don't make it so the game is impossible for new players to get.

My one suggestion is to have it so that once a map gets past a certain age, kick off the player requirement. No one cares if you get a GiB these days, that is to say the "vets". However, a number of couples of friends grind their way up to ms_snow and stick through the game and manage to beat it and don't get anything. Ever. No matter how many times they beat it. Assuming they even knew something was there. Suddenly the game goes from: you can buy items worth using if you manage to earn enough gold and you can find items TO there aren't any good items anywhere and these maps are fucking impossible.

There's no item in the game you can't get with two players. The odds suck for some, but they still tend to be at least twice as good than they tended to be with one (nothing with worse than 1 in 50, unlike the old days, where 1 in 200 was pretty common - and the odds didn't get better no matter how many players were about). I pretty much always see at least one server with 4-6 players, and the occasional 8 player packed server, at which point the game pretty much starts passing out anything and everything like hotcakes, and even the rarest items tend to be 1 in 4.

When I abandon this project, I'll rig a single player mode, and I leave place holder's in the code for it, but I've no interest in working on a single player mod, so until then, keep looking for servers with folks in em.

Even 1 in 10 is pretty terrible for three people. You beat a map three times with your two friends and you get nothing. You never play the map again because it was damn hard to beat (you're not invincible like the rest of the community) and you don't think anything spawns there. Even if you did know that it spawns there you guys won't want to do the map 20 more times in the hope that you'll each get one of the item. This happens with every map. You try and get everyone in your group the items eventually and you don't want to beat the same map 30 times in total. Not to mention that 30 times to get an item like a GiB isn't worth considering for them. Hell, they don't have any good equipment with which to beat the level easily.

I don't see why it couldn't be 1 in 5 if you had 3 players, 1 in 10 if you had 2, and 1 in 20 if it's just yourself. You say that they get passed around like hotcakes and that's because the already elite people are the only guys that have a chance of finding the items. It all goes back to "the ubers are finding good items, we must stop them" instead of "let's make it so they can find the items themselves and therefore have more fun and a challenge". This is my opinion of how the game should be, it's not mine, and I've done practically nothing for it (helping get more people and helping new people but that doesn't count) so I guess we'll leave it at that :|.

Edit: I don't know what the actual drop chances are but I did ms_snow over 20 times with two friends and didn't get any of the good items (avoiding spoilers). Not to mention the additional players that joined to bring it to 3-5 when my friends weren't and were there respectively.

He's dipping far into the negatives. He got some cool points for insulting cornholio, but... Damn, all this necroposting is too much.
