You'll just need a awesome skinner there...

Of course, but look at the models from the game Gothic (1 and 2). As example: *click 1* *click 2* *click 3*

The fur-part looks bigger and more like fur and the effect wouldn't be that "fluffy" with just a new texture on a more flat-like object.

Re: [WIP]/[REQ] Models we need

Sabre did kinda have a point there, in that we can't do "fluffy" the way you illustrated there without mass poly's - and it's certainly beyond his (or anyone else's) ability to do via reskin.

The pics from Gothic just remind me how nice it would be to have an engine that did bump mapping on models (even if it did it as badly as Gothic does). Bump mapping or neigh, though, you can get closer to fur than we currently have, certainly.

As far as I know, Gothic doesn't support bump mapping.

Maybe someone should make the model in the shoulder area a little bit more bulky (but not much). This wouldn't need more poly's.

The game is to old for bump mapping.

Isn't here any talented 2d artist, who could make a fluffy fur texture? :>

Older than 1999? That's old style Slave-Zero style bump mapping there. The texture shadow depth bends with the angles. The same texture won't look as nice in Half-Life - but it'd still look better than what we have now.

Re: [WIP]/[REQ] Models we need

Theres a mod that has bump mapping. Another one is coming, they asked permission to the authors to use the engine

Re: [WIP]/[REQ] Models we need

The bumpmapping mod only applies to certain world textures, not models. Tis among the things I've been trying to figure out how to integrate.

Re: [WIP]/[REQ] Models we need

If you're looking for a name, I believe there's something out there called "detail textures" if you want to google that.

Re: [WIP]/[REQ] Models we need

That's something else, and that we do have. It just kinda, is lacking. Basically puts little meshes over textures. You can see it in action in ms_wicardoven if you set r_detailedtextures 1.

Yes, filters are a double edged sword. But you use wayyyy too many of them. Try using blending layers, razor.

really though, if you're going to use a bunch of filters atleast try and make it not look like soiled grey paper.

icearmourze4.jpg

2 filters + curve adjust and it dosen't look like grey paper.
