so thothie, ive heard rumours of a hp-lvl cap..... unfortunately i have a cr** load of ticketed items on my pack mule, and just one question: will the hp-item limit affect tickets? (if so, pack mules will have become obsolete, and id b screwed with 50 xtra items and noone to hold them...) btw, im still working at a summer camp if ppl are wondering where i disapeared to again

If the bit of code is working for a new system that is coming, there will be a method which kills off the need for pack mules. Which is a great thing in a lot of ways. Wont have to slam the server with another person reconnecting, grabbing another player, transfering items, reconnecting again, loading player, then transfering again saving time and resources (edicts) so there should be less crashes. Hypothetically of course and IF the code works/ if/when MiB rises from his current RL issue.

The patch is shaping up to be pretty much more filled with content then I can remember any other patch having. It'll make up for waiting for it for most of the people playing I believe. There's quite a bit of new sexxiness being thrown around between the general community and the devs. Just needs some time to bake to perfection.

I'm hoping it won't have to, but it'll depend on how some exploitation tests go. We've got many dozens of non-mule characters with less than 200hp and AOB, and all matter of things way out of their league, most created in the last two months, so with that level of determination working against us, we're not going to leave anything to chance.

My advice, again, is to dump any extra Felewyn blades and any extra Tomahawks (save maybe one dark one) to bring your weight down to reasonable (there's no real reason to have these except to twink right now anyways). Everything else is tickatable, and with *luck*, tickets will be safe on your mule character until exchanged.

...and like Thraxis says, also with luck, we'll have a new banking system where everything (save expendables and containers) should be bankable, with no need for a ticket, eliminating the need for mule characters entirely.

Ok, so at least i can have a little hope.... :) (and if u have the item-hp limit going constantly, it'll prevent them from unticketing their good items, til they're the proper hp anyways, right?). anyways, I guess il check back here around the release for confirmation... btw whats the release approximation? i think i heard it was around Jan?

*EDIT* wait omg i didnt see this: "If the bit of code is working for a new system that is coming, there will be a method which kills off the need for pack mules. The patch sounds like it's shaping up to be a good one; can't wait!

@ Thothie: Do we still have Nightmare SFOR to look forward to!? :oldshock:

Please don't salivate at my posts, most if not all things dealing with MS:C are "If"s. Not to drag down want for the patch, the more general public appreciation and realization that there IS a patch that IS getting worked on and it IS a good thing the more motivation the developers probably will have.

MiB sadly, has been all but absent to me, I have no clue about other RiP members or other devs, but it worries me. I'm sure now that this is posted Sabre or Bong or someone will link him to it and he'll come and say raunchy things to show that he cares. But I am trying to get in a decent talk with him to get him a bit of motivation to finish the bits he's working on and get a build or something out the door to test. Even if i have to throw him to a pit of ravenous women.

I'll try to refrain from get people drooling anymore, but IF all these things are implemented, even before the end of the year, it will be well worth it.

I've tried to poke him this way, but there is a Lady X in his life now so my temptations are not as effective.

That would've been from me about a month or two ago. It WAS tested once for about 5 minutes. He found the bank not to work and when he tried to debug it the server went down.

Really been poking at him but getting nothing so far.

Ahh, thanks for the info on that. Every since it was mentioned, I probably know at least a couple of folks (besides myself) who have been on the edges of their seat this whole time waiting on the patch. Hopefully it comes about soon.

Which is why I try to stay away from making posts informing people of things patchwise. It's a double edged sword. On one hand, the community should have some knowledge of whats going on, on the other, it puts pressure on those trying to deliver said content. That wouldn't be so bad if this was a commercial team, but it's very much a bunch of people mostly from late teens to infinite (thothie :p) who work on this in spare time. In doing so, things come up which take a giant wrench and throw it into the wheels of things.

Most, if not all content is hinged on the new code, which only MiB has.

I'd say it would be reasonable for a patch of some sort to be out before end of the year with all the non coding content that's being worked on/has been donated. I don't want to throw a date out, especially since I'm not coding nor scripting nor handling mapping, but I'd say that would be reasonable, if not even too far away/vague a date.

Once again, please don't salivate over this. Bar MiB coming on, delivering code/continuing work and getting a build up to test, it's still a bit off. Even if the team had fully working code tomorrow I'm sure it'd still be two to three weeks before everything was thrown together, multiplayer tested two or three times, adjusted and released. And that's probably just map/code/script wise.

Patience will pay off... I know it's been forever since a proper patch, but the wait will be worth it.

code, ive contacted tooth which in his turn told me to contact mib which told me to wait till he's synced codes with tooth, and this was about a half year ago.. and before that I had talked to mikk.

not sure whats happening but I'm starting to pick up a couple of projects and soon i won't be having any time to help out here, that is if my assistance is needed at all.

It's true, there's a limit to what you could do for us until MiB finalizes the code, which he promised to do, over three months ago now...

Still, there's a lot of areas of the code MiB hasn't been able to touch - most of what he is fiddling with now are components he added himself. There's a lot of things that really could use fixing that none of us have been able to make heads nor tails of since Shuriken left - not the least of which is the dreaded character overflow issue.

I'll PM you my usual "can you really program - or did you just take a class?" challenge, and if you can pass that, I can get you a slightly dated code you can play around with.

Mind you, you need to have VS2003. MSC won't compile under anything else.

not possible to get it compile with mingw? atm i use vs2008 and code::blocks but i guess it's no issue getting 2003, i should have architect edition somewhere..

but yea, gief code pl0x *slowly puts gloves of serious work while the terminator theme runs in the background* (I know I can't work properly with those things on, I'll take em off when I start coding promise ~_^)

*Still* waiting on code from MiB...

In addition to that, a bunch of new maps have come in (The_Wall, Shad Palace, Tutorial, Nasharalah(sp), Derwintwater, potentially SorcBurg)... So we've got to script all those. *IF* we get the code from MiB before the scripts are done, I assume we'll just push those maps up a month or two, but it doesn't seem likely to be an issue, at the current rate...

If it makes you feel any better, it's looking very likely your WoW Torkie elves are going to see the light of day.

As I doubt our modelers are going to have an alternative in time.

wow, it's starting to look like MS:S will get their early beta out the door before the new version of MSC =/

the only thing they need to do is find someone to fix bad rat animations.

We needed less than that done, four months ago. >_>

Oh well, tis good. Hopefully they aren't being as overly optimistic as we were. ;) - If NS2 makes its release date of next month - it may beat us to a release as well. ><

Is this a bad thing y/n?

No, I just find it kinda funny since until recently development on MS:S was non-existent
