Low Levels?

Hey, i was wondering if you guys could suggest some lower level maps for me to play on. right now i'v been grinding pretty much at isle... every now and then i hop on chapel. but are there any other better/good maps to play on? these are a little challenging but i can solo them since no ones really playing. (esp round my level.) so any suggestions would be appreciated.

once you get a little more hp or get sc to 5 for iceshield and rejuv I'd suggest killing the green spitting spiders in thornlands.

This is the problem with MSC for most beginners, there are a lot of maps that are for higher levels, there needs to be more maps for the lower level folk! This is probably what drives away new comers, maps like ISLE is fantastic because it has such great exploration and friendly to lower levels and when i played it when i was a low level i was submerged into exploring the map more, it just felt great to play.

Hey that's funny, I said this countless times, yet people still persist on wanting to make T3H NEXT-GEN UB4R HARD MAP!!!1! all the time. Previous patch was actually the first patch since JUN2008a (!!!) to include some mid-level maps (but again no low-level maps).

I fully agree with you and I wonder why just about noone else is seeing the problem. A++ thread.

Especially lopsided given that the first 25 levels go by the fastest, and the last ten levels continue at infinitum.

In answer to question, as long as you're asking for places to explore, rather than to just grind as quickly as possible:

Sans Party: Bloodrose (outisde only), challs (beware o' zomb boss), chapel, edanasewers, gatecity (goblin areas - zombs maybe a bit much), gertenheld_cape, gertenheld_forest (with care), goblintown, heras, idemarks_tower (grasslands only), isle, island1, mines, ms_caves, ms_quest, ms_snow, ms_swamp, mscave, sfor, thornlands, and unrest.

With like-leveled party, add: Daragoth, calruin2 (up to any of the bosses), gatecity (zomb zone), keledrosprelude2 (avoid Djinn, find safe resting spot), lowlands, highlands_msc, lostcastle_msc, ms_underworldv2 (sploit boss), orc_for, ww1, ww2b.

Granted, by now, you've too much HP for this to be of use anymore.

It's probably the worst map in the entire game, in terms of everything. Also, if you don't want to waste your time, you shouldn't play any of the following maps in my opinion:
island1
ms_caves
ms_quest
ms_swamp
ms_town
ms_underworldv2
unrest2_beta1
lostcaverns
They all look thoroughly mediocre, have terrible gameplay and no unique reward(s).

Also @Thothie: I meant new maps, sorry. Like I PM'd you earlier, new low-level or mid-level maps rarely get added. There are, in fact, new players who aren't aware of the don't level as fast as you're predicting. Sure, a lot of them do, but there really are people who don't know the ~30 exploits-for-everything (which high-level players use to beat otherwise sheer impossible maps, like the_wall) which is why they level slow. And whenever said people return to the mod and find out there isn't new content for them, again, they lose interest, again.

When pole arms, dragooncaves and idemarks_tower got added, a bunch of people in-game expressed how glad they were that there was finally some new low- and mid-level content.

We got less new players in the last few patches than usual, and we've always gotten more new medium maps than hard ones. New low level maps are rare, but it's also rare to find a medium level player who's visited more than half the low level maps, as really, those first 25 levels go by really fast, sploits or no. Amongst characters created in the last two years, there's very few level 25 characters in the list that are more than a month old, and the vast majority of them are less than a week old.

Nonetheless, I'm considering making a Deraliasewers_Easy variant, given the virtual location, and that I think that was the original intent - although I'm not sure how I'm going to go about populating it. It's friggen huge, so should provide a lot of time to eat at least. Dun think I'll get it in this patch, given how little time I've had to work on it, and how much I've delayed it though.

Patch is in alpha tests now.

Map is boxed, which will kill your FPS - especially on a non-GL friendly card. It's also off grid, so fixing it would be an unbelievable pain - but I think we do have the source still.

Personally i think most of Thothie's map difficulty list is correct, though i dont see why nightmare_thornlands/lodagond-2 should be hard. I consider thanatos/aleyesu harder than both and yet they are medium on that list.

My opinion about all this "low-mid lvl player lack content" business is that its not really that true. I have seen lately that most of the content is medium to very high lvl (both items and maps). Low lvl'd players shouldn't get that much related to maps, they could use a few new items every once in a while but higher level players lack way more content related to lower lvls. I also think its clearly visable that the level range between low to high players is quite big, a player can achieve fast levels when they are still low lvl while higher level players take alot more time to achieve a step forward.
Sometimes i find myself stuck with the very few challenging/rewarding maps for my level, because i think the game lacks very high level content which is what i prefer right now.

Also did i ever mention in forums that i like the_wall and its actually one of my favourite maps atm? This might sound stupid to most of you but i like that map because of a few things it has in it, such as: long and troubling map, rewarding in both xp/loot even when solo (this map is harder in group, because there is always someone messing up your run which happened to me alot of times). So... im expecting to see more maps like the_wall in the future. :wink:

The wall disgusts me, even though i cannot run it! its just an irrelevant smash together of bosses and the "Difficulty" isn't natural, it was forced in, everything has an unfair advantage, and its just a mess. But i can see alot of people running it for loot...

Well, if you aren't at least level 32+ in most skills then you shouldn't bother with the map. The enemies there might look cheap, but you can simply beat them using the right potions, gear and a nice strategy. Personally, I run it for fun and sometimes loot, i like doing challenging stuff and get decently rewarded while doing it. That is why i use that map to grind whenever i can (i can't right now with no new cap and no decent polearms for that map).

How about releasing a new hard map with more uniques similiar to the_wall? Or if u stick with that note of yours, i do hope its ihotohr's/velend's staff! :wink:
