Can't take my main char anymore.

I can't take my main char anymore, I can take my 2 others but not my main. It is probly due to the 2 elven longbows in my quiver I was keeping for a friend. When I click on him, it just goes to msc main menu. I tried char recover, but it didnt help...help? I'll probly have to get a backup from FN...
Tried to go on another server and go to char_recover, but it keeps disconnecting me for "reliable channel overflowed"
I want the FN backup as last resort and I'll give more info about my char for backup when everything else has failed.
EDIT : I wonder if steam ID is same for different char from same user? I can't get the steam ID from my main char but I took one from my other chars...hope it is the same : STEAM_0:1:4597836 slot 3 and it happened about at 3:30 PM

Yes, they're the same. The files are arranged as (SteamID)_(1,2,3)

I don't think so, not without a lot of coding. Squirrel and I were discussing about how it could be possible, but it would be quite a bit of work.

The only way it really makes sense (to us at least) that you get a reliable channel over flow is because items, even when in your inventory, are entities. I'm thinking that there has to be SOME reason that the devs did that, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense =\. I think if the items were converted to a ListOfItems and then they became ents when you brought them to your hands (Or wherever), it may work better.

But, like most things I say when it comes to fixing bugs, that's all based on speculations and therefore it's probably me just making an a** out of myself

Generally, how much time it takes to get a backup and how far do the char gets rolled back?

It generally takes until Thothie or Fuzzy sees it, and they roll back to the last time it worked.

Rolled back your character to the latest archive, which is only about two hours younger than your current character, so it may not be rolled back far enough. Tell me if this is the case.

Also suggest you take a shot at Char_recover. Seems to recover some characters that haven't gone too far over the threshold.

I suspect the 4k character limit is an unforeseen issue involving a limitation of the HL1 engine itself. I suspect we'll have no way to overcome it, except by limiting inventory capacity in some way (as the game was originally designed to do). Just, hopefully not to the same obnoxious degree as originally intended.
