Ok so you spend anything up to an hour fighting various monsters to get to the boss.
You kill the boss and collect your reward.
Oh no!, it's the exact same thing you got last time, and the time befor that and..
So what do you do with your band spanking new (and not overly unique) items?
It seems to me that at teh moment there are about 3 options.

1) Leave it where you found it - kinda pointless considering you jsut spent ages fighting to get the damned thing in the first place.

2) Keep it for tradeing - again not much point as anyone stronger than you would have them comming out of their ears and anyone lower would have little to offer that you would need.

3) Give it away - This is (or atleast was) the most obvious option as it made both parties happy. They would like the new items and you would know that it didn't just get waisted on 1 or 2.

So what can be done about this problem?

Personally i think the abbillity to sell the 'reward' items would be a smart move. At the moment alot of the older players have more than enouth gold but getting enouth together to fund the higher priced potions for newer players seems quite hard.

Maybe something like 200-500 for easier items like dark armor, psb thing like that.
Then 500-1000 or so for the harder items like mssnow,bloodrose,keep.
It's not like it would unballance anythign really..
..for instance you can get unlimmited cash on bloodrose off the flesh eaters minions that respawn for ever if you so wanted.

OK you can moan now.

I like the idea a whole lot. Perhaps a rare items dealer NPC that just sits in some secluded area. Imagine a hermit, maybe in the new desert in a small camp or something, that you have to work a little to get to (so you can just run to him in 15 seconds like the traders in helena). You wouldn't believe how many GiBs I've tossed into the pit after beating the Ice Queen, just because I have no use for them.

i dunno... seems like if this was implemented... we'd get more character corruptions from people stuffing their inventories with stuff

Er, seems we'd get the opposite, as people could sell their stuff, instead of keeping tickets around for trade.

It's tempting but the economy is already so wrecked as it is... I suspect the only way to fix the economy at this point, since there are so many gold exploits I've not tracked down and am not being informed of, is to eliminate the ability to sell all items save maybe the rat/boar/bear skins (which are critical income for the nubs). Then we'd wipe everyone's gold and re-instate two or three sale items each month, to be sure each was thoroughly tested before it reached the betapack.

Sadly, the way the script system is currently designed, it is REAL easy to fux up the sale price on an item. Suspect the best solution to that is to change the way it works, as at the moment, it's not only counter-intuitive, but somewhat difficult to predict.

How about the 1st of X month players must go to your server and give all your money to a NPC, otherwise you wont be able to attack, like some sort of quest?

sorta like immunising to diseases, next time you get money you can attack if you gave your money the first time.

I really wish there was some way to delete everyones gold. I really wouldn't mind giving up my gold to rid people who exploited their gold insanely and have everything at a reasonable price. And I wish people would come forward with these exploit. :|

I wouldn't really mind a character wipe some time far in the future. I think it would be cool for everyone to be an adventurer again.

Last time someone suggested that, about 80% of the community left. I would also not be afraid of a character wipe, but I would sure as hell be afraid of the consequences for this community.

I'm actually OK with a character wipe. I found out with this new character that when you know how to play the game, you can train characters INCREDIBLY fast. It's taken me less than 2 weeks to get to level 28 and be able to solo most maps (save the ones with bosses meant for multiple 30+s).

Well if there was a char wipe I probably wouldn't play much anymore, however I would stay with the community and try to continue scripting.

I, however, would be less opposed to an economy reset (ie. everyone's gold resets). I believe this can be done without any effort on the players part, just you'll spawn with no gold if you haven't been marked as having your gold wiped. It'd require a majority consensus from the community via a poll of some sort.

However, I don't have time to run through all the scripts and turn off all the sale abilities just now. Nor go through the trial and error process of arranging some universal fix that'd have the same effect on the hard code side. I also suspect there are a few gold exploits that don't involve selling items at all, and I have to comb through those too. So there's no point of making any such poll at the moment.

I don't think resetting to 0 would be very good, either. I think you should at least let us have 5k or something.

I think its best to make rare items sellable for now and deal with exploits later, i for one do not use gold exploits and it pisses me off that gold vanishes so easily, i die i loose over 90g, gold is extremely rare, 100k for an ubreakable gold axe, this is starting to be like wow where you must make endless grinds, forexample 5000g for an epic flying mount.

Whaaat!? I've not even added our WoW elves yet. ;)

'sides, if you lost 90gp for death, that means you had over 9000, tis hardly a penalty.

What if this said NPC just traded usefull items that are not buyable, but you can only get them by trading a rare item for them.
