A slight concern

Something that seriously bothers me about this game is the lack of decent servers to play on. I don't know if many of you others care for this, but I myself, do. I'm a man who likes to train on his own, without interference and the bother of other players stealing my kills, map voting, and etc.
I find it quite frustrating as I've not been able to train on my own, due to lack of servers. Which has rendered me a Level 15 for sometime now. Normally I'd be complaining about something more important, it's just vexing as I'm not able to train due to such little amounts of servers.

Upon other things, I think there should somehow be someway to have your own private server to train on, without bother and the annoyance of other players entering your server and being a pest. It's a little annoying when Player A is training on Map A, then suddenly Player B joins the game, and decides to vote for Map B that's COMPLETELY out of Player A's level range. Thus, interrupting Player A's valuable training time.

There are many difficult maps in this game, as I've found out plenty. I feel I should only play those maps when thus level is within the Map's level range requirement. Of course to obtain this, one must train. Any one else find this slightly bothering; or is it just me?[/complain]

Sorry about the b*tch fest, I'm a little annoyed right now.

yes all very valid points, and in the past one was able to do just what you wanted.

Sadly we have had people come into this community and instead of playing by the rules decided to be asshats and abuse the FN server. This abuse caused the password lock down on the FN server, hopefully someday I can take it off and people can just make a server and I won't have to worry about people doing shady things.

Keep in mind you may request for the password, though it may seem like I ignore a good majority of everyone. I do read all requests and I do look at everyone.

I'm going to host a server 24/7 (hopefully) when I get 10/10 mbit (or higher).

I'm hosting it in Denmark. (Dunno where you live)

Specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium4 @ 2.66 ghz
RAM: 1,5 GB

I hope that it will do the job.

Once I got the password, I´ll host a 6-slot (if ~50kB/s are enougH) server that hopefully can be online 75% of a day.
It´ll be located in Germany, hosted on a AMD 6000+ x2, 2 GB RAM and a ATi HD 2900 XT.

Well, the GPU doesn't really matter.

Though it would be better if the GPU got used too, because a GPU crushes the thing that it needs to calculate into 1000 pieces and then calculates every piece at the same time. A CPU calculates the whole thing at once.

GPU provides graphics. If you run a dedicated server, there is no need for a SUPAR WTF, GPU.

he knows that mikkel he was just stating that when it comes to crunching numbers the GPU is much faster at it. However the GPU is good at large complex numbers and is good for a specific kind of number crunching. Thats why its just no good for Dedicated Servers.

Rawr, I plan to get several servers up. All of them dedicated on a server box located in a data center (in Ohio I think the servers are in). The connection is OC48, an optical connection. I just gotta wait for the FN pass.

I have a server online here in sweden @ esab86.no-ip.org but you have to connect to the ip manually cuz I'm just too damn lazy to open the ports needed for the server to show up in the masterlist.

The fact that I don't know what port I have to open makes it a bit difficult too :oldlol:

Been getting far too many complaints from n00bs saying "There's no where to play cuz all these high level guys drag us to places where we get 1-hitted all the time."

As such, I've opened a "Newbie Server" for characters 400hp or less. This is enforced - meaning the server will automagically kick ye if you have more than 400hp. I'll only run this when I can run both my servers in conjunction. (ie. There'll be a regular server, and a 400hp or less server, both ultra-beta).

I used to have a Basic 1M [FuzNet] dedicated server running here in Malaysia, South East Asia. Usually ran around half the day for me, my friends and other fellow Asians to enjoy low ping questing/training (because there just ain't enough Asian servers :oldangry: ). Well, that was only until it was decided for [FN] to have a few "improvements" :oldlol: . Hopefully, I can revive this server and put it back on it's feet soon, IF I get the FuzPass. :p

Also, if you want to save up a few spaces (in case you have a router that can only open X amount of ports) you make it 1200 and 27000-27039 :p

All those ports just to get the server onto the list ??

WTF??

The server is working just fine as it is, people can connect and play and so on. The only problem is that it doesn't appear on the serverlist. Since I am one of those *paranoid* nerds I just want to open as few ports as possible :p

EDIT:

Ports 1200 + 27000-27039 have been opened to both TCP and UDP connections but it doesn't seem to work anyway :/

Linksys?
If so, leave this in a line for itself in the server.cfg:
Code:
heartbeat

You mean me ??

If so then no, it's a hardware firewall from Symantec.

Symantec Gateway Security 320.

Strange. Try what Jelly said, and maybe try +ip your.ip.here.
