Lodagond-2

So, here we are, lodagond-2. Should have some interesting stuff for ya. Due to the fact that I can't fit all my crap on to one map, as I've reached the texture limit, there will be a lodagond-3 as well, maybe even lodagond-4. I have ton's of brushwork done already, I just need to fill in the gaps. Some of you have probably seen these areas already. I just gotta fill em with baddies :D

Your brushwork and texture usage are fascinating. It's good to see how amazingly well your mapping skills have developed since you made Cylinder Land (highlands) :wink:

Definitely some amazing work there crow. Regardless of what difficulty this map may become, I will be impressed by the good use of geometry and the amazing texture work each time I play :)

Even though I only recognize one of these three new pictures as being from Someplace Else, I'm not very fond of you recycling Adam Foster's work, even though he released it to the public. You've proven that you're an excellent mapper, so why not make some more stuff yourself instead of this copy-paste-texture-replace job?

This is basically done. It's pretty damn small, but it's just a transition between 1 and 3, which could end up a transition map as well with all the crap I have to fit in it.

There's a mini boss at the end, not really worth any cool loot, so thothie dont worry about finding shiny new things to put in it =P
He's just modified with the title and hp/damg multipliers with a little something xtra so its not just "u kil dis guy the end lewl"

Not planning on releasing it till you actually have something to work towards :D

Also...

I have a sprite I edited with SpriteFixer so that it would be "Oriented"
and thus apparently completely stuck and only moveable by the editor (normally they face you at any position)

But ingame they all face the same direction, regardless of thier "yaw" or if I rotate them with the Selection tool.

I know i've gotten this to work before...

I have always used Hex Editor for editing my sprites. How I get my fire to only rotate on their y-axis.

I think I remember having to use the german one I have. I'll try that. Dun remember how it works with hex editor, if thats still lying around somewhere.

So I'm settling in for the night and running my nightly full compile, and I get this: Read File Error

This error is fun times. Looks like I get to take out my mini boss.

Heh, well if you do dust off the cob webs of the Hex Editor. I believe you edit the row 1 column 8 hex byte.

"00" fixes the Z axis only - like an env_beam.
"01" does something strange, don't use it at all.
"02" fixes none of the axis - the sprite will be seen from the front.
"03" fixes the X, Y and the Z axis - the sprite stands there like a wall.

File read error often comes up if you go over the texture limit and yer -texdata is not set high enough.

Ye may want to break up yer maps into smaller maps anyways, to make it more likely the players will finish them... I generally rally against that, as it usually means the final maps in the sequence never happen - but if you already have the map made, and can just cut and paste sections...

This has taken to crashing on start up.

Dunno what the deal is, but im pretty pissed.

Only thing I can say is it takes a fair bit of time to copy the .bsp file once the compiler is done in my batch compiler. Every other map i've ever done that part happened in the blink of an eye.

Last time It worked was when I had the mini boss at the end. All I did was take out him and his area...

Suggests the removal of the section resulted in an odd-shaped brush somewhere that's fuxing with hammah's mind. Also check the size of the BSP and that it copied correctly (file sharing issues).
