it should stick with the source engine, it has the best visual to performance ratio of any engine I have seen.

Meh, with the ATI offer for free source games... NOW i know why everyone loves source. And then I got its SDK from soucemod's SVN, and its also like developer heaven.

well its like dark messiah, its using the source engine with some serious tweaks in it. Looks great runs well and doesn't require some freaky hardware requirement to run.

Valve may not know how to make certain kinds of software, however when it comes to game engines... well I am sure you have seen it in action.

The HL2 Engine crashes more than Squirrel when he's turning left :|

then somethings wrong with your configuration, never had a serious hard crash unless there is something screwy going on with my computer.

Granted in the beginning I would have constant issues.

I've tried lowering all of the settings. It will still do random-ass crashes, like if I jump and land while reloading and a zombie starts moaning. 3 types of crashes, too:

1. Nice crashes, instantly to the desktop. VERY few of these
2. Ice Blade Freeze, the computer freaked out, made the noise it had been trying to play over and over, but I could use the Windows Key to get out and get to the task manager.
3. GIB Freeze. I could do nothing but hold the power button. Everytime this happens, I pretty much sh*t myself, because last year when my computer hard-core died and I had to reformat, that was caused by me having to use the power button after CS:S was having problems.

HL2 goes down more than most of the forum-newbies on Thothie

(Woo.. Second analogy)

That's Windows, not Source.

No real way around that, unless you use a different operating system (like I do).

...Well, since it's only SOURCE that does it, I'm going to disagree with you and say that the problem has to at least PARTLY lie with Source. Source is the plane and windows is the bomb. Sure, windows is the thing that's f*cking up the comp, but it wouldn't be doing it without Source helping it along >_>

Dunno the specs off hand, the last format was back in Sepember

Guess I was wrong about which game I was using for the BSOD the first time, but I do remember source doing it to me at least twice. This MS:C case was the only time it forced me to deal with Dell and format, though.

guess one should ask how stable is your computer in general? Could you leave it on for 24+ hours and still achieve roughly the same performance as if freshly booted?

If not you may have a software, hardware, or outdated BIOS, interesting thing about the bios is that it doesn't even have to be outdated to screw with your computer. I was having serious issues one time and went ahead and flashed the bios, after that the computer started acting like it was new again. Never again will I underestimate the power of a BIOS flash

and I change my vote, lets us the quake2 engine :oldlol:

My comp is.. stable.. It's not the best comp, this I know, but I used to leave it up for the whole week when I was at college with no problems. I'll get the specs and such as soon as I can get to Squirrel's..

Meh, I like the source engine. The SDK kit is really awesome for mod-making, and it already has a rather huge playerbase connected to it. Relancing Master Sword on the source engine would immediately draw a HUGE playerbase.

Furtheremore, from what I've gathered off the source code there are some really interesting features already implemented that would server MS well, such as the vectorial functions that is the crowbar, which could pretty much be copied to all weapons in the game. (and the crowbar damage calculation in source is pretty cool).

And imagine telekinesis as a magical ability using the gravitation gun as source...

When orcs fly, I'll believe anything.

Or you know... we could use the superior physics engine of Crysis...

If you think MS has a chance of being created on a visual feast like Crysis, then you don't understand the "pipe-dream" that it is to create compelling MS art resources.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool. It just ain't happening.

How is flying orcs not a vital part of gameplay.

Oh, how fun it must be to lift an orc from the ground, send him forth towards his friends and knock them over, lift a boulder and toss it their way.
