whats wrong with this model? just need some "outer" opinions. didn't know where to put this, and also, i can make a lowres version if anyone wants to use it.

the textures are highly temporary and it's a WIP

Are you going for swamp monster? It almost looks like you stuck a martian head on top of a swamp monster body, with the cranium the way it is. The facial expression's a little funky as well, but it is looking good otherwise.

yeah im going for somekind of a swamp-forest-ghoul thingy. I agree the facial expression is looking wierd, and i'm gonna try n' fix that. i'll try to stick some vines and ivy on him too. that'd be cool right? thanks for the feedback! :)

This looks like... a swamp plant mixed with a creature of some sorts. Owait it's a human turned into a swamp plant. Looks good, don't like his facial expression that much though. :wink:

So a Human did it with a .. ?! Wait, heh no I'd be imagining weird things again...

Alright, I am to the point where I am populating the map now. I may need help with a few things along the way (if I happen to need an npc type that does not exist or a script... not sure), but I really would like to have this map introduce unique enemies...

Dunno about unique, aside from bosses, but we can do new.

Lost fragment of the Borsh tribe was a thought (not terribly unique - just reskinned [or pre-reskin] Orcs). Various gunman models waiting to be used, both shooters and fast melee-rushers. Few others in that swamp monster pic I'd re-post if I my host wasn't fubar at the moment.

Got another map I'm currently fixing up that needs a new boss and some scripts. Dunno if I can have it ready by October - lotta RL crap coming up this and next week.

doomplants aren't giving exp, I think its always been like this right? thats kinda a let down. *not because I want epik xp to make my map da cooliest, but just in general*
It'd be really nice if I could have them separate mobs... have some bushes around and shrubs here and there... trees in bigger/more important locations.
I like the current doom plants (Concept wise) but they are semi-difficult to work with and a lot of people just don't want me to use them.

Swamp enemies are what I'm looking for... we seem to have enough already. Sorry for being so vague. :|
plant enemies, bugs, undead... things like that.

Hrmm... You using monsters/doom_plant_new ? Can't remember if I ever finalized that - or even put in the changelog...

The vines you see in Phlame's have a non-flaming submodel as well. Be easy enough to stick the same behavior on them, sans the flames.

My host is still on the fritz so I canna link a pic, but I have one other swamp monster model that's rather nifty and I have permission to use... Needs some short-range animations though - at the moment all the ones it has are long range or make it move too far out of its bounding box.

Yes to the tenticles, they seem to always be in swamps these days ><
I'll try the new doom plants, I hope they work... I'll re-post if they don't work at all.

Alright, the monsters/doom_plant_new gives exp and works, but it is just the last form of the creature... really easy to kill...
I'd like to see the non-exploitable dragonflies still, if possible. And the vine tenticle would be great if you have time to make it.

Vines easy enough... Thought the final form was pretty nasty with the poison-gas rocket-launcher of dewm thingie it has attached, but I can look into it. Non-sploity dragon flies are a bit wonky, although maybe I could just make them no-clip - only downside is non-AOE projectiles would fail to work on them. That maybe less of an issue on a higher level map though.

Host is *almost* working, or I'd post that damn nifty froggie mob thing up for ye.

At first I was like :oldshock: who would revive thread?!
And then I was like :roll: oh...

yeah... so the map is being delayed due to technical issues. As in Hammer doesn't start. I am currently working on finding a way to just run it with 4.0 because I honestly cannot find the issue. I click run (default as administrator) and it waits 3 seconds and says that Valve Hammer Editor has stopped working and gives the usual 3 options of check online, close, or debug.
I have a back up of my maps and textures just in case my computer explodes though, don't worry :oops:
