A glacial palace in the elder forest of the north.
Why the hell does the geiger counter sound get stuck on if I get d/c'd from a server that's running the Loda series?

wtb a fix, or at least a way to permanently remove that sound (never liked it when it was in the proper context, either)

The geiger counter's been a thorn in our side since MS 1.3, and I don't think we've ever figured out what causes it, or been able to reliably reproduce it. It crops up from time to time in a few other mods - including Natural Selection, so it's something very odd and obscure indeed.

As for removing it globally - I think if you open your [...]\Steam\steamapps\Half-Life.gcf with GCF scape you can remove all the geiger*.wav files in valve/sound/player. You may have to close Steam before you can write out the file. It will probably not affect Source mods or Half-Life2 games - but you can probably find similar files in the appropriate GCF's.

Lacking the wav files shouldn't cause a crash, but you may see a "sound not precached" error in console.
