Well things i was disappointed with is that i had to kill the boss from Duke 3d another 2 times and the fact i can only have 2 weapons its just ridiculous, and there aren't any good new ones. It felt unfinished.

I've not played it, but from what I've read, I'm impressed at how thoroughly they managed to strip everything that should be core to a Duke Nukem game out of it.

But I shouldn't be too surprised, given they managed to do the same to TF2.

Unlike TF2, however, I don't see this game picking up much popularity. It really looks more like a Crysis mod than a new game. A Crysis mod might have even faired better, given what I've heard about the engine.

I wonder if anyone's taken up a mission to fix simple stupidity - like the gun limit. Seems Crysis had a cheat where you could get around that at least.

...and is there really no Mega-foot? I mean... Come on.... Shrink gun... And no Mega-foot?

I really hope the next generation of console game controllers involves a scroll wheel or 9 little buttons. I'm tired of the limitations of console controllers ruining PC games and causing everything to be simplified to the point of down syndrome.

Brain damage right there.

The game is not as bad as what people make it seem, its actually a good game somewhere inbetween oldschool FPS and newcrap FPS (new people complain its too classic, old fans say it has too much new crap)

Personally I hate the fact you can only carry 2 guns and have regenerative health. As a standalone game its probably remarkable but as an entry on duke nukem its not even close to the real deal.

That still doesn't explain why 90% of the world hates the game, not to mention why it's getting negative/mediocre reviews just about everywhere.

Proffesional reviewers are mediocre, not only because of this game butmany other. They are paid to think objectively about a game but they write like some angry kid on sugar. Seriously they have been retarded since the very first console, ranting about NES Megaman games been more of the same and wanting crap changes on gameplay.

Then the kids who just judge a game based on reviews thinking that the grown-ups know what they are saying.
And finally the overgrown nerds who just jump on the hate wagon because everyone else does, because the mindset of the packs is always the right mindset, even if everyone is wrong or just retarded.

You should go to Gamefaqs more often to figure out everyone has down's syndrome there.

The mindset of the pack can not be 'wrong' or 'right' :\

But it does say something about the (lack of) quality of the game when everybody thinks - what you consider to be - wrongly about it; ie. that it is a half-assed, generic shooter with lots of blurry textures, excessive loading times, random frame rate drops and a two-gun limit.

A friend of mine downloaded this game for his Microsoft Electronic Box 360 and he mentioned that the loading times sometimes go up to one (1) minute. To me, that alone is reason enough to BLAM a game, but fortunately I'm not a professional reviewer.

Edit: Also, these are the reviews I was referring to:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/duke- ... itic-score

...and of course Yahtzee's review, which actually was surprisingly friendly this time around.

Edit 2: And, like so many others, I really really tried to like DNF. This trailer really impressed me, but the game is nothing like it, unfortunately.

True, for a small moment I forgot the only thing that exists are opinions. 1+1=2? well thats your opinion.

I heard too the 360 port has technicall problems, but the PC version has none of these.

If anything the game is getting bombed for the wrong reasons, which are not even reasons at all just a bunch of whining.
My reason to dislike the game (despite being a good game, probably much better than all the annoying WW2 and other crap fps) is that the developers peanut sized brain's could just leave the gameplay alone and expand and polish it.

And thats about it for me.

About reviewers... I said it before on other thread. Take Dynasty Warriors for example, a game that never changed its core gameplay and its a hit on the east but american reviewers and people keep saying they are crap, even tough they also sell very well on the west.

And besides who really cares here what a reviewer says? the only difference between them and a common persons critic on a games is that they get paid to spill all that crap.
I never got my games based on reviwes and the only one time I did I was dissapointed.

You really shouldn't accuse a poster of brain damage, and make his point in the next breath.

See, the nice thing about all these reviews and videos, is you don't need to play the darn game to know that this game has nothing to do with Duke Nukem - beyond some jokes and models. It's a generic modern FPS with the name Duke Nukem slapped onto it. Just like 1+1=2, there are a certain number of critical elements in the formula that makes up Duke Nukem, that you can itemize, without playing the game, and this game has been demonstrated to be, perhaps deliberately, thoroughly lacking them.

It might even be a good generic FPS game, but the fact that they stole the name Duke Nukem and slapped it onto it, means we'll never have a true Duke Nukem sequel, ever, as any subsequent sequel to this one is going to be inspired by this uninspired money grab.

So, the fact that this game effectively killed Duke Nukem, forever, (sorry for the pun) is enough reason to boycott it, regardless of its actual quality. Plus, it's the only way to slow down this 'simplify everything for the console-tards' trend, not to mention this "re-branding a game = remaking a game" concept the gaming companies are so fond of.

It's the same thing that happened with TF2. It might be a good game in itself (to some people), but it will always have me looking back to the far superior game of TFC, that they abandoned nearly all the core elements of, in favor of a casual console-tard friendly game. It destroyed any chance of there being a modernized TFC. (Sadly, I have played TF2, but that's what I get for putting the Orange Box on pre-order. Had a reviewer warned me, and itemized what was missing, I woulda passed.)

People complaining about The Duke having slow loading times and bad graphics on the 360 or the PS3 can go f*ck themselves, it's an FPS and FPS games are meant for PC. Yes, go f*ck yourselves.

People complaining that the PC version has bad graphics can either look through the options menu and edit video settings or go f*ck themselves.

People saying that the 2-weapon limit is retarded correct in saying so.

People saying the Ego-meter doesn't fit the game are also right.

People saying the interactive activities suck and that the picking up of sh*t is tasteless and ruins the game need to go f*ck themselves and/or the console gamers. Oh, and loosen up. Mostly f*ck themselves though.

People complaining about the distinctive lack of mighty boot are correct in doing so.

Also, during my play through I never once encountered a drop in fps. Never. And my rig is mediocre at most.
That is all.

What Thothie said. If they decided to make a game with Duke Nukem's name then dont complain when you screw up the game and everybody yells at you.

They only had to leave the damn thing untouched. Many complain that the old one is to simple but it was really complex, full of secrets and stuff (like some part where you have to shrink yourself then travel trough a small hole before you grow back and die)

I just watched some videos of it and i have to say something to it.

It sucks. The only thing they did right was the graphics (even tho the shadows are off). The two weapon limit really sucks and i think it even takes away from "realism".

Duke Nukem got destroyed with it, not gonna touch it.

(*searches for Duke3D in his collection*)

I think i'll be able to carry more then two weapons, atleast two handguns or more and two bigger weapons on my back.

The graphics looked alright, i don't care for graphics anyway, what i meant was a step up from Duke3d which would have fit. (in my opinion)

Some of the textures are really high-res yet some are really really blurry. I don't see how you didn't notice this. Also, the lighting in that alien hive level is probably the worst I have ever seen. Pretty much every surface in that level refused to reflect light or something.

I must say though, to the game's credit, that the Duke Burger level was pretty entertaining and that fight on the Hoover dam was also pretty good (especially because that constantly cussing NPC is with you). But it's just not Duke Nukem...

That's because you're not f*cking Duke Nukem! God damn Duke Nukem can carry all the guns he wants, and a Chuck Norris to spare! ><

Whenever I see a poor game mechanic defended by "realism" I rage.

I mean, looking at the collection, most of the guns are situational. You don't wanna be stuck with, for instance, a RPG and Shotgun combo. Or a pistol and a rail gun. (Why even have pistols in a game with a two weapon limit?) There's just no logical excuse for that from a game play perspective.

...also... Turns out this is the UT3 engine... You mean to tell me they spent 12 years on this game and have no engine to show for it? :(
