Got a crest for your clan?

You’ll have to do the artwork yourself. It’ll need to be a 384x384 256color image [dyamic palette] (prefer non-RLE BMP, although I'm willing to at least convert formats for you). You may use this template to build a crest from. DO NOT simply export and edit textures from the model, for they are clipped when the model is compiled.

When building a crest, keep in mind that colors come out a little lighter and with less contrast/saturation in the Half-Life engine and that the image will be slightly distorted due to the shape of the crest. In addition upper bits and backsides of crests are often covered by straps and/or equipment. The bottom 20 pixels of the backside of the crest seem to sometimes not appear. Lastly, keep in mind that text on a crest can be very difficult to read.

You will also need to supply me with a password for your guild to give to the Crest Keeper. Once I’ve setup your crest, you can give your password to him and he’ll grant you the appropriate crest.

If you are the head of a guild that already has a reserved crest, and aren't familiar with Fenrin, the Crest Keeper, please PM.

To get your own guild crest: you must:
- A) Start a guild thread in General/Recruiting, and get at least 5 guild members to post their Steam ID's in said thread. Then you may reserve one of the available crests above, or submit your own as per the given instructions.
- B) For your own, personal crest, you must submit 5 (five) descent new maps to the MSC world (or three, really good ones, either way, they must be FN approved). You can submit your own, or Thothie will make one for you. (For example: see Crow's and P|Barnum's crests above)

PS. Don't ask me why all our crests are made in China - cheap labor I guess.

You make that many fantastic maps for MSC, and I'll get you your own fugging crest!

In fact, why not... New policy: 1 good map = script list. 5+ good maps = personal crest. I'll even design it for ya, if you wish.

'Sides, he didn't give me that crest, I just made it myself when I was goofballing a few months back and tossed it into the package as a surprise for him since I thought it looked kinda nice. It's not exclusively his, just not available for a clan crest. (Like the Edana crest) He may make it an aside prize on one of his maps or somethin.

Please keep me updated on what will be happening with this crest!

Last known owner of the Pirates crest was Commonwealth of the High Seas, and none of their members have responded, nor has their guildmaster respond to the PM I sent. But it's only been a day. I want to give them at least until the end of July.

For a it to be a guild though, it is required at least 3 active members, posted in these forums, before a new guild can reserve / upload a crest. (To help prevent people just hijacking crests for themselves.)

Mind you, if you are just a guild member and not a master, you can still declare your crest ownership on behalf of your clan!

If you are a photoshop nub, I strongly suggest you find someone who *isn't* as this is kind of delicate work- and dun ask me lest you've got 5 maps for me... I get paid for that crap. .
