I get an error within 1 minute of my sever connecting to FuzNet,

I select my char, boom in the sever, then an error on the restart pops up,

"Couldnt allocated dedicated sever ipport 27015"

My the port for the restarter is 27015, it should work ..
.
I tried 27016, does not work either...
27017 + Does not work either,

Router configs:

You are here --> X
I'm not an expert, but my portforward configurations are set to both TCP and UDP.

Can't have client and server on same port.

Add the parameter "-port 27016" to your HLDS startup line.

I did fellow Thothie, still the same error, would I have to do the range differently i assume?

27000 to 27016 instead of 15,

should it still be UDP or both?

Oh yeah... Bloody 27016 port's not even open is it. ;)

Yeah, you'll have to expand your port range to cover your server, of course. You'll likely want to go quite a bit past 27016, in case you want to add more servers or some such.

Plus you're on a linksys router- buggers are notorious. Unless you're Blasto.

I'll try that then, but portforawrding should make the firewall off, avoidable..

Check that the windows firewall is off, that no remnent copies of HLDS.EXE or HL.EXE are in memory, and that you reboot after making changes to your router (which makes the former redundant, but oh well.)

I'd also ask Blasto for help. He seems to have some magic that makes these Linksys routers work. A lot of folks have trouble with Half-Life and Linksys.

Biorage,

The dedicated port thing isn't always about port forwarding and DMZ's. Sometimes, Windows fails to deallocate the port, even after the application using it has stopped. We get this error sometimes and usually you can restart the server until it goes away. However, sometimes Windows just won't let go of it! You can get advanced task manager applications to help you manage your TCP/IP connections through the task manager GUI. I've found this to be helpful for those times when hlds isn't running, but Windows still has the port allocated to hlds!

If you are not sure what to use as Picadilly suggested, I found this one that is being used on the Revolution server.

Go here - http://www.prnwatch.com/download.html and download Prio.exe

Yes, it's main function is to save the priority level you want for any application, but as an added benefit it makes another tab in task manager so you can look at what port(s) any application you have running is using.
