Confused about FN

Hi, I'm running a server for a friend and I need help. I've read many stickies and stuff but they're quite outdated and I just need basic help. I'm not a forum noob, I'm usually good with running servers as I have had over 10 years experience in Half-Life and made MODs myself, but this is complicated. I have no in-game experience but I hope I can get help anyway on behalf of my friend.

I just want to know how to get FN to work because apparantly FN makes the characters work on all servers or something, And my friend wants the server to have FN enabled. Can some kind person lead me a step-by-step conclusion on how to make FN work so my friend's chars work on the server I host for him from other servers he's played on?

One post I read you have to request a password, But sorry i'm so confused. Please help and provide the latest information needed for the server.cfg etc and any passwords needed

Well, the only thing to say is to contact Thothie or Blasto121 with a request for the password. Follow these guidelines when you send the PM.

Unfortunately, it's not so easy to just get it, but if you work at it you will have the password pretty quick. Until then you really just have to play on FN servers. Note that any characters started off FN will not be able to be transferred over.

Social security and a valid bank account number?

Char/Forum name and Steam ID would do, as per the usual. If he has rcon, we're effectively giving him the FN password, so.... Doesn't do us any good to have his IP unless he's apt to run a server himself though - just need the IP (range) of the server host (which you, apparently, already gave us).
