I'm not sure what all these people have against Episode 3. It's about the story line. If you have no interest, deal with it. Some of us want to know what happens already :\

However doing the same thing back to him by loling at one of the most awesome games (in his opinion) isn't a good or clever idea, I agree. I just have a thing where I lol when "Halo" and "awesome" are in the same sentence since it just seems like a very mediocre FPS game imo.
Probably the worst part is not halo itself but what it produces to other games. Now everybody looks for the new halo killer, (wee! I can carry 3 weapons) and crips the way to great games (shadow tower abyss never got to US because Sony said so)

FYI, i have both l4d games. And it's a must say line from my part that L4D sucks, i would prefer episode 3 over that crap 100 times more. About L4D2, it's better than the 1st one but its the same old shit, gets boring too quickly. Then again i do regret buying l4d but not l4d2, seeing has how i dislike the 1st so much i would have prefered buying something else.
PS: Yeah, you really have a bad taste for games since you like l4d in my opinion, sorry if this makes you feel bad about yourself.

Perhaps the single player of L4D wasn't worth the 50$, but if you got a good group of friends together to play multiplayer, it was well worth it. It's still worth every penny, in my opinion, because of all the fun RiP had stomping.

As for NS2, I've been playing the pre-alpha for some time now. They seem to release an update for it about once a week or so, but for me at least, it still isn't playable. The full alpha is supposed to be out in a few days, and yes, they've had the dev tools out for quite some time, and, unlike the game itself, they work like a dream. It is nice to see a group come out with nice, fully operational and open source set of SDK tools before they even have the game done, instead of dropping a bunch of buggy as hell closed-source ones that you can't even use without Steam and for which the only reliable documents are third party.

So yeah back to the topic on hand, Alien Swarm IS playable and IS fun. It's very similar to L4D in terms of teamwork and simplicity, but still more complicated (but not as complicated as NS ). It's too bad it has only one campaign...it's really a blast.
I like L4D more than L4D2, I like Halo 1 but not its sequels, I think Valve made a mistake going to episodic content considering how much I loved HL and HL2, and I only like Modern Warfare for its single player.

I also think they should not have gone episodic for HL. But meh still fun cause I still get to learn the story so its not too bad

Lol, i was getting that problem aswell in 2 of the missions, which forced me into changing widescreen away and lower my resolution to crap >_< I have no clue but my computer seems to have problems in source engine games when it comes to water based parts, like that swamp campaign in l4d2. Lags the shit out of me. Though it rarelly happens and isnt a big deal when it does happen.
So are you guys using custom music, and if so, what? I haven't tried it yet, but I just added most of the original Half-Life music.

Hope they don't turn that way though, even if Alien Swarm was re-released as a full game later on with 5+ campaigns I still wouldn't buy it based on this free version.
The game was released by a team of modders taken in by Valve, and designed to be modded, Valve would be wasting their time to put out a paid version of the game that only half their loyal fanboys would buy, as opposed to the full force.
Wouldn't make sense selling new campaigns when they released the tools to make custom campaigns ourselves? I'm pretty sure they aren't going to charge anything for future releases.
