The Elephant model is kind of ready, all I need now is a friendly skinner willing to help with the skinning process.

I found this on google, maybe you could use it until someone decides to make original textures.

Awesome, Gurluas. New maps in the Aluhandra desert and longroot jungle will benefit greatly from this model. The elephant could even be used in a future islesofdread map.

I'm not a skinner though, can someone assign FER's skin to the uv map?

Sometimes things die, or go unused. You'd be surprised how many items are left to rot.

I am not a modeller, I am however a scavenger...I scavenge dead files and models from many sources.

Granted, the real elephant sitting in the room, that no one has dared to speak of - WTF are we going to put an elephant?

Why wouldn't you put an elephant in the Aluhandra desert? An elephant will also work perfectly in Jungle type settings, so it would work perfectly in the longroot jungle.

Imagine Orcish Elephant Cavalry!

Why don't people think Aluhandra is the most obvious place for an elephant?

Unless it eats snakes and orcs, and summons water elementals, I dunno how an elephant would stay alive in Aluhandra. :/

Elephants can *barely* survive in arid plains, like those in Africa - deserts are straight out. Only plains we have ATM, are Daragoth, but there's no room for an elephant there (largely because it's really a series of shallow valleys). Ya do get them in Jungles, of course, but, save for the tiny asian types, only as they travel between plains, for there ain't much room to move around and heard up for protection.

Maybe if we make the Thunderplains, or that dreaded Snakes on a Plain map ;) , we'd have a place for them. (There's also the fact that Goldsrc hates wide open plains.)

Now if we had a Mammoth - we could stick that in ms_snow. (Granted, ms_snow is having some aethetic issues ATM - if you have the detail textures on, it turns into a dark gray valley, and if the bloom is on, well, let's just say the "polar bear in a snow storm" effect takes on a whole new dimension.)

Think we already covered our thorough and eternal lack of "netherworld". Albeit, netherworlds, by definition, don't support life - just dead souls. I'm sure this is yet another temporary crossing of terms though.

You never replied to my Pm, it contained vital important new information, did you even see it?.
The Elephant is planned for the first zone of it, a grassy plain known as Ar'lyeth, one of the last living places in the Netherworld.

You spend waaaaay too much time on meaningless details like this. Really? The plains are called Ar'lyeth? Who fucking cares? How does that advance the story in any way whatsoever?

Everything I've read from you is 99.9% aesthetics, .1% story. You come up with fancy RPG-sounding names for towns, races, etc. You imagine a bunch of scenery in different 'worlds'. But aside from that, what is there? There is so much 'filler material' in your lore.

When writing a story, you should start with the message you want to convey, not the images you want to paint in the readers mind. You need to find a concept that transcends entertainment, something that applies to humanity, and then you need to build your story around that concept.

If you do this, and then you erase 99% of your story, you will be left with something meaningful. Right now, if we erase 99% of your lore, we are left with absolutely nothing. Because your lore has no foundation. It's just stuff that you think is 'cool'.

Also, I admire your perseverence, but there's no point in pressing on like people actually acknowledge your work, because we don't. You seem to be under the impression that if you just hand Thothie any old crap it'll be put into the game. Weeeeeell... it won't. :)

inb4 we see elephants in nashalrath. :oldlol:

Elephants wouldn't fit properly in the desert imo, maybe in the jungle or like Thothie said...

The message is in the plot i don't want to post it on the forums for everyone ... Would have been the same as if the Half-Life writers leaked the plot on the internet.
As for the naming... Its same deal in the current lore. Thornlands are called Thornlands not cliffylandscape.. Daragoth is called Daragoth not continent.

There is a deep plot relating to emotions. I dont who why you people are after me this much when there are maps that are WAY worse without any lore or meaning at all, those maps are simply loot pinatas.
