I once saw that boar right outside of the Edana entrance. At first I was confused, then I realized how it happened when I jumped over the little grass wall whilst trying to get away and the boars follow me.

your frames are limited if you have vertical sync on, your frames are then limited to the refresh rate of your monitor.

So if your refresh rate in game is 60 you will reach a max of 60 frames, if the refresh rate is 80 then your frame rate will be a max of 80. This is only true if and only if vertical sync is ON. The point of using vertical sync is to prevent texture tearing.

IF it is off, then your max frame rate can be anything.

However the average person will not notice any difference above 60 frames.

It is normally best to cap your frames at 60 only because there is no point in going above that point, but its your choice how high you want it to go.

Winderz also has a bug with various graphic drivers where it caps the refresh rate of the monitor at 60hz in certain modes. You'll need to play with your driver or get third party software (such as "refresh lock") to get around that in some cases. Graphics card bios can affect that too, so it varies with cards of the same chipset by different manufacturers.

About framerates: I don't fiddle with the predefined framerate limit purely because I couldn't care less if I get more than 40FPS on HL.
