Server Issue?

I just downloaded the mod on request of a good friend of mine. However, in the first 2 hours, everything worked fine but now i cannot retain a connection to a server. I get no error messages, i simply get returned to the main menu. My internet is working, as i am running skype (on call) and steam in the background, with no issues. (Vista 64 bit user), is it Vista causing problems? Or is there another solution?

There's always the first and most common potential issue - did ye download the mod from the links provided on the official download page - as links from elsewhere tend to be suspect, at best.

Then there's the installation procedure - ie. did you download the main mod (FEB2008) followed by both patches (JAN2010a and JAN2010b)? (Normally it's just the main program and a single patch, but things have gotten a bit chaotic lately - do intend to merge the JAN2010 patches into one, sometime, to get us back to the standard.)

If all that checks out, then I think yer likely down to reinstalling the mod, or looking into a character rollback. Has your character ever loaded? Do you reach the character selection screen now? ...and of course, have you tried multiple servers?

everything checks out. Also, i was playing on my character for a good while, so yes, he has been loaded etc. So im guessing re-installation is the only way. Thanks :)

Alright, well, i tried re-installing to no avail. Im 100% sure its not the game itself, as the same thing happens to me on Sven-Co Op as well. Is it a Vista issue? Or no idea?

In Vista, sometimes HL1's OpenGL settings get fubared... Sometimes deleting the ClientRegistry.blob in your Steam folder and restarting will cause it to reset, and sometimes loading up Half-Life and changing the graphics modes there will do the same. If yer really lucky, all you'll have to do is reset the system. Occasionally, however, you'll have to uninstall Steam and start over.

I just got this mod, and I actually liked playing it. I seriously want to play right now, but the FuzNet status is red, and I can't connect to any servers. Anyone know what's going wrong? :(

The Fuznet General Forum is where to look for notifications when Fuznet is up or down.

Though, at the time of typing this, it appears to be back up.
