I'm at a loss at what to do now. I've had this problem for a few weeks now and I've tried a few things but nothing fixes it. When playing games, listening to music, or doing anything with sound it will randomly cut in and out. In my device manager, under Sound, video, and game controllers I have 5 entries; four of which are High Definition Audio Device and one is Realtek High Definition Audio.

If anyone has any suggestions on what to try, please respond as I'd like to understand and try to fix the problem.

Edit: I'm using Windows 7 if that helps.

I would suggest uninstalling all the sound drivers then download the latest sound drivers from the motherboard website and install that driver(I assume your sound is onboard the motherboard).

Alright I tried that but unfortunately the problem still persists. But now I'm getting a message that the speakers were 'unplugged' and 'plugged' whenever it cuts out. I tried a pair of headphones but I'm still getting the problem so I'm led to believe it's my one and only audio jack with a problem. *Sigh*

If your system lets you determine what goes out which jack you could plug your speakers into a different jack and tell it to have that one be the output. You can do that in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
