Mayor quest problem

I have successfully made the mayor tell me about the secret letter, but when I looked inside the chest, it was not there. A friend of mine said it worked earlier for him, though he said that the mayor himself gave him the letter. I tried that as well but to no avail. I need to complete this quest quickly so I can finally obtain the bloodstone-ring too :/.

(while we are at it, finally fix the European keyboard-layout. I am constantly typing mazor here .)

EDIT: Tested it on other servers and it isn't working on any of them either.
EDIT2: Seems like a bug, nothing on our end.

I'm going to have to do something to this quest to make it more predictable to test, or something. Worked the last few times I tried it. Meh.

It does work sometimes. But there are still times at which the sealed letter doesn't show up in the chest. The time it did work I took everything out the chest before speaking to the mayor.

I did exactly what you did, cartman-2000, and it worked on the first attempt. That should be a good work-around for now.
