If you entered a map, what would intrest you the most, what would you like the see the most? Please reply to the quest, don't say, "I don't like cheatmaps.", "Custom maps are gay.", or anything not directly answering the question... This will be beneficial, please reply with most respect.

YOU DONT GOT TIME TO MAKE A PROFILE
First and foremost (and obvious), something new. Of course a new map will be new, but what i mean by that is, don't make it look like anything already out there. Since there isnt much, this is fairly easy. I think someone should attempt a snowy map. Isnt there some way to make snow and stuff? Or maybe a lava cave or something cool.

I want something to do in a map. Don't make it just a walk through the park. Some flat straight stretch with bad guys and not much detail. Have some simple puzzles along the way, some secrets here and there.

Have cool sounds. That helps more then you think.

Make it as real as possible (within reasonable limits) huge squares dont really look like rocks.

I guess thats all i can think of right off the top of my head. I'll have more later

- Must have an original idea

- Must have secret areas

- Must have challenges

- Must have puzzles

- Must not be composed for 90% out of cylinder brushes

- Should (not a must) have a transition to another map

- Should not look like shit (orc_city1 looks like shit)

- Should have reasonable awards (and not 4 treasures in a hidden room, right Cyax  )

- Should not be subject to "Get out with this gay cheatmap!"-bullshit

- Multiple, but exclusive paths: I want to have to visit this map more than once to compete it.

- Roleplaying (see above): I want characters I can interact with, a storyline, who will ask things of me and reward me for accomplishing missions. This can be accomplished with cycler's and sprites if need be. (Since there is currently no dynamic npc entity). Make your own damned NPC's, darnitall.

- A plot (see above). Preferably with motivation (wtf am I here?), that integrates with the existing MS world. (Read the damned background stories!)

- Consequences: for failing missions (possibly being cut off from areas of the map). Also see above.

- A goal: I want at some point to have a goal beyond killing things. For instance, retrieve an object, do an escort mission, or guard a target against attack.

- Nice lighting ;) (use hlrad damnit!)

- Lots of custom content (or at least, lots of normally unused MS content, as there is plenty of it). But NOT content that there are already equivalents of in the system.

- Not a cake walk. The map should be difficult. Better yet, it should host a range of difficulties. (Rats on top - undead warriors on bottom, etc.)

- A reasonable challenge to reward ratio that makes use of rarely seen MS items. (including the lesser ones, like chainmail, etc)

- Changing environments: Night/day, good/evil color shifts, breakables, shifting mountains, mazes, rivers, etc

- More Interactive environment: Pushables, breakables, func_trains (boats, caravans, wagons), func_tanks (siege machines, ballistas, traps, etc.)

- Monsters who can be defeated (or are required to be defeated by) a method other than direct attack. eg. who's power crystal must be destroyed, can be lured into a trap, etc.

- Support suspension of disbelief. Ie. Shouldn't have monsters, objects, or NPCs there for no apparent reason. This, however, needs to be balanced with playability. Also no 21st century objects (or holy symbols). ;)

What I don't want to see:

- Not a big fan of the puzzle thing in general, but I can tolerate it...

- I don't want to play Super Mario Bros. 3D. (ie. no crazy jumping challenges - or at least make them bypassable).

- Waiting around for things to happen. (ie. no chains of monsters I have to kill with 100 second spawn delays between them)

- Endless lengthy mazes with nothing in them.

- Repetitive environments (every area looks the same as the last - see also mazes)

- Monsters with limitless lives. (The map should eventually be clean) At least monsters with limitless lives should have a method to stop their spawning (such as blocking off a cave exit via func_breakable and func_door/func_wall_toggle that also killtarget's the monsterspawn)

- Naturewalk maps (ie. large open area, with random weak critters, and no goal)

- Scavanger hunt maps: Maps that are nothing but a series of secret chambers to be discovered. Put something between you and them, damnitall. ;)

I, myself say mini games, something the player does not have to do, but he gains a reward by doing so.
