this is from wow... i suggest we make kray eldorad similar and just as elvish as the wow elfs..

not exactly same... but similar architecture and stuff... also some towers like the one in deralia.

i like the blood elf gal...she is hot.
also i like the bloodelf towns..

but i would always rather see a world of starcraft.

i can come up with a better (HL1 friendly) concept...of course, you might not like my drawing skillz0rz


i was thinking of trees (like in sfor) with scaffolding-type buildings on them, and marble buildings in the town square, with some less-fancy houses towards the outskirts of the town, this of course, all made hl1 friendly by the large ammounts of sfor-style trees :D

in hl2 though...looks like episode 2 will make large forests possible...

If you look closely, the area in Episode Two is surrounded by cliffs, and on top of those cliffs are flat trees (partially transparent textures that look like trees).

i dont think they should live in trees... they should rather have beautiful marble cities with beatiful gardens and structures and the like...

not nightelf style... more highelf... if we use warcraft as an example.

Big towers, like the one in Deralia (being a prefect example) Kill HL1.

Curvy architecture, like you have there, also, kills HL1.

Unless you go under the philosophy of "I don't give a f*ck about FPS" - as was so obviously the line of thought applied to Derlaia - that sort of architecture isn't real viable in HL1. Paticuarly in wide open spaces, like you have there.

The current running theme we have for Kray Eldorad for MSC 1.1 is 'too perfect to be built by humans' smooth-fitting marble architecture. This is both FPS friendly, and potentially surreal looking. These shots aren't from the final map, but from the inspire build:

That floor will need to be smoothed out and made reflective, but the basic uniform marble concept is illustrated well enough. Jus, kind of insanely squeeky clean city - compared to the human's mish mash.

curvy artictecture must be made more blocky
magic tower must be made more hl friendly
and there you go.
i meant more the ambient and style.

Just because we use the design doesn't mean that it will turn all of our graphics to s***...Ya know...Like WoW's...

Negative, though somewhat similar to the idea I had in mind. The architecture need not be so curvy, though, and that's far too open of an environment.

And the statement "just as elvish as the wow elfs..." makes me cringe. Always hated the warcraft elf designs.

its only an indoor building... kray eldorad is as big as deralia...but it could be the royal castle.

<_< You seem to be missing the point. (Indeed, so much so, it is liken unto an MSC character with a parry of 200 being shot at by orc archers)

You simply cannot make scenes like that in HL1 and expect any reasonable FPS to come from it. Deralia went well past the limit of sanity as it was, and most of its buildings are square. You want something like that, you'll have to wait for Source.

when i posted that pic i didt mean look at the curby buildings i meant look at the texture style and trees
