Health Bar/Manna Bar replacements

Just to clarify:
These are for MS v1.35 - NOT for MS:C!

and what healthbar is THAT!?

Keep saying I'm going to post this, keep not doing it... I was going to wait until I saw the new MS:C ones... I made a few replacement health and manna bars awhile ago. (Granted, manna bars, not much use to us atm).



I could do better than these though. I restricted these to the pallets of the original sprites, and, turns out, that was not necessary.

I do miss that beating heart from Dungeons of Dagaroth though. That used to give me heart attacks when I was a kid. The more damage you took, the faster it would beat, until it popped.

I have a random quote generator that uses a quote file that I've been building up since 1990 (back before the days of the internet, when the BBS'ers were king!) It's 9MB of quotes now... The generator frames the signature with one of two headers, depending on how I set it. Pretty much half the forums I visit use the same seperator.



If the occasion calls for it, instead of pressing Ctrl-Shift-Q, I'll hit Ctrl-F in the quote file and search for a keyword. Like so:

I knew it! There was this guy on HL2World with a random image generator, and if it's possible for pictures, why wouldn't it be possible for plaintext?

Sweet. Thank the gods for attentive forum leaf cutters.



Eh, the Vial and the Crystal ball were made from scratch in Adobe Dimensions (coupled with Photosop). The reason they look so bad is because they were restricted to the palette of the original sprite - which apparently I didn't have to do, but oh well.



I'm waiting until I see the MS:C sprites before I bother making new ones.



The heart is from an on-line CSULB medical journal. Somehow, I doubt I'll get hit for a copyright violation for using it though.

Heh, I loved the effect in that old game... I say we replace the vial with a heart, and make it start beating fast when you get to 10% health, and then 'splode when you die.

Are you kidding? Kids love that stuff!



Heh, granted, when I was a kid, I was seeing it in 4 color quazi-CGA graphics... Well, until Rastan came out. I think that heart blew up in a full 16-colors. After that the concept kinda got lost (although... There was some street-fighter-esque beast-wars game that used it, after I was really too old to be seen in an arcade.)



MS isn't a very intense game though. I think it would be even better in a fast paced action game, like UT2004, or some such.

256 color... With the first (or is the last?) reserved for transparancy... Other than that no limits... Which is where I went wrong.



I actually have and could use the face from Doom... Copyright infringement though it would be, but what the hell.



I've STILL yet to see the new ones though. I want to see them before I make anymore.
