classes

Which form of "classes" do you want?

  • The ability to choose your own class and specialize in it. You will level up slower in other classes

  • The ability to choose your own class, and get a boost in that stat, but save the ability to be a JoA

  • Keep it like MS:C, just choose your weapon at the beggining.

i'd say leave that first option to races, IE: elves would be better with sword/bow/magic (and train slower in the other weapon stats), whereas dwarves are more the warhammer/axe/MA type (but train slower at sword/bow/magic)...humans are the "JoAT" that would train equally in all stats.

being equal in all areas is nice, but I'd still prefer to get a boost in my favorite stat

Lets say that races gives you a really noticeable boost in certain area (elves have perfect aim and better damage with the bow but close combat weapons gets low damage), and classes give a slight stat boost

The first one would be nice to see. The second one is what we are supposed to have now. The third one is what we have now.......

I would go with the first one.

I like this one, it still gives you ample oppurtunity to be a JoaT, as well as diversifying a bit. For example, an Elves would be able to pick a melee weapon class to negate the consequences of low damage, Dwarves would be able to do the same for ranged or spellcasting(assuming we go with Elves being excellent magic users), and Humans would just be able to specialise in one skill, all others lagging behind a little, but the one they choose would be exceptional.

Or they could just choose a race (Elven or Dwarf) and one of that race's accordant classes, and be almost as deadly with it as a specialised Human. Either that or you can make the Humans the true JoaT race and give only a slight skill boost towards the class that they chose, though I don't know how that would influence people's choices on them.

how about making some items only usable by people who chose its class?

That would be a pain in the ass.

But I would really like getting race based classes. But I don't think humans should be JoAT. They need their own special skill set to specialize in. To only make it fair.

YOU DONT GOT TIME TO MAKE A PROFILE

I could see this as being ok if there where say, a quest chain that everyone could do, but your reward was based on your class/race (like elves get some sweet bow, dwarves get a huge axe, etc)

That way people could have a unique weapon that complements thier race/class, but poeple wouldn't bitch about it because they get one of thier own, and everyone can get it since it wouldn't be a rare drop or something.

basically i look at it this way... if limit everyone to one class rather than being a jack of all trades, it make team work to be required even more... which might make the game even more interactive and more "co-op"

Inversely that could relegate some people to stupid tasks, ie mages being only support mages.

well, support mages would be healing and such... but if they set up the spells right... higher level mages could be more powerful than a swords man... it all depends.

I think that it should be kept just like MS or MS:C

Your strongest skill is the one that you use the most.

but I think the title system should have some effects on your characters damage/stats.

I agree. New engine, new game. Porting everything over will just be lame.

I'd definitely like to see a completely revamped game, as well. I mean, if it were just like MS:C, why would people bother playing it? I don't have Half-Life2, and I'm probably not the only one that doesn't. If MS:S turned out to be exactly like MS:C with better graphics, I wouldn't buy HL2 to play it. Hell..I play text based games. I don't need good graphics to enjoy a game. I want good gameplay, and something a little different.

With that being said, I voted for the one boosted stat, but also being able to be somewhat of a JoAT. That way you've got more of a need for teamwork than you do in MS:C, but you could also have someone specialized in Axes or something that also has a decent level in Magic. That way you've got someone that can dish out the damage, but also heal someone if they need it.

how about having the choice of a Main class and a sub class

like you have to choose your mixes at the begging of a new character and u could specialize in those 2 classes and those two only... like maybe... axe and magic like you say, or archer and daggers, or sword and shield?

I think the current system is great, there just needs to be more of a reward or incentive to specialize. Or at least beneficial effects from your dynamic title.
