Another month, another mess...

Ye MAR2007a reports can be found there for reference.

:arrow: [AMX] Effing Ultra-vote doesnt work
- I r in the process of rebuilding the votemap/votekick system from scratch

Minor
:idea: Sir Geric not spawning on WW3d
- Result of overzealous security.. Resolved next month.
:arrow: Keledros crashing when using holy again skell form
- Probably counter attacking with holy when he shouldn't.
:arrow: Helena NPC's not resetting after raid
- After all Orcs/Rougues have been cleared from the map for a time, the Helena NPC's are supposed to calm down, and eventually pop back into their stalls, at which point, they are supposed to offer discount prices. At the moment, it seems they never calm down though, and just run around like chickens with their heads cut off for eternity.
:idea: Game_Text events not showing
- (update) Added a work around that runs game_text through the MSC pop-up system and chat.

Aesthetic
:arrow: All water sometimes goes white
- Actually, this seems to be the result of stretched textures (texture reload bug), combined with reflections, so nothing I can do save disable the reflection system entirely (not worth it as it doesn't always happen.) Closing HL down and restart will fix.
:arrow: Some of the p_models have skewed textures
- Not Orochi's fault this time, but mine for forgetting I had to alter p_weapons1.mdl and didn’t get the source from him. It's not bad though. On the plus side, I've the source for p_weapons2.mdl and all those are golden.
:arrow: Client transparent/invisible
- Other players may see you as "floating armor"
- Death fixes. Part of armor fix experiments not yet fully applied.
:?: Health/mana bars sometimes corrupted or uncolored
- Good news is we fixed the old negative -32,000 scrolling health bug, bad news is, now we get this.
- Corrupt sprite is usually caused by changing a map without choosing a character (also sometimes gives sprite-frame errors). Uncolored sprite usually results after a subsequent map change.
- Restarting HL usually resolves. You can also use show_health 1 at console to compensate (less hassle).

Resolved/Addressed from APR2007a:
- Gauntlet/Boss security working over time
- Map descript gives low level warning even though character meets HP requisite
- Lots of other stuff not mentioned here (see changelog)

Resolved/addressed from MAR2007a:
- Incorrect XP loss reports on death (sometimes)
- Lots of monsters lingering on client (plus debug can't be disabled which is major annoying)
- Skycastle chests sometimes not spawning.
- Trolls immune to arrows (and erratic lightning)
- MiB doesn't like the new ravenmace.
- Frostbolt using wrong projectile submodel. (Saw it, forgot to fix it.)
- Player has no kick anim
- Some spell scroll effects are buggard (sprites going up instead of down, etc)
- Greater Ice Blade Tickets
- Some XP issues
- Spell giver monster lingering on client.
- Closet skeleton in thornlands has wrong name.
- Bows are in the wrong hand in third person...

Known Ancient bugs:
- People still can get uber stuck in each other on spawns. (Partly Map Flaw)
- Swimming in waterfalls (Map flaw).
- Armor display bug: armor fubarbed when viewing other clients.
- Map crash on transition (memory dealocation error). (use AMX and Restarter as workaround)
- Unable to chat after some people disconnect bug. (suggest votemap workaround)
- All entities invisible bug (type kill in console to cure).
- Lights/sprites not going away / sticking to other objects
- Ice shield sometimes generates Call strike function error and fails to give effect, but still drains mana. (Work around - look straight up or down.)
- Parry seems to get 'stuck' at certain levels for long periods of time. (Sometimes this is simply the client misreporting)
- Occasionally a weapon/spell will stop doing damage until it is unequipped then re-equipped.
- Menu-based vote kick system does not work proper (use ms_allowkickvote 0, and use the AMX kick system instead [votekick in chat])
- Occasional scrambled inventory: wearing potions/scrolls, etc. Usually caused by clicking on a character multiple times before load.
- Can't use charge attack in laggy conditions. (Work around: look at the floor and pray.)
:idea: Ambient_Generic does not function
- Sitting animation bugs (sometimes saves to character for awhile)
- XP system is screwy, to say the least.

MSC constantly freezing and crashing during the middle of the game.

If ya ever manage to snatch one of those debugs you get, that would help A LOT.

...near as I can tell from my end of the server, your character is spawning mass edicts for some reason, dunno why. I doubt yer the only one doing that.

A lot of the no_free edict crashes I've been getting since January seem to happen right when players join, this maybe related. Hopefully I can figure something about by tearing your character apart.

atholo doesn't "die" properly...his "imma kill u" noises keep going, and he's not doing the stuff where he triggers events on death like normal monsters...


emergency patch...?

sry for double post, but if neccessary to put into the script (as you've done with others) - atholo should fire "atholo_died"


addin music to venevus's chamber, then doin ma final compile...

Hopefully that test sc.dll I sent ye works out for ya.

Yeah, it is lookin like an APR2007B patch will be coming - as that map is bigger than this patch, really.

I dun think I'll get it out today, but progress is looking good on getting:
- Bloodrose 100% ready to roll
- Map Nazi to behave
- MAYBE a new armor fix that doesn't involve doing screwy things to the char
- Fixing the quest system

I'll try to keep the patch entirely server side, so most peeps wont need to update... otherwise I'd get that "show_health 1" cvar that Hellz and the other Vista users are apparently going to need (new support sticky pending).

I have figured out why we couldn't trans to the boss map. The AMX was effecting the changes. I have been hosting a server for the last 2 days myself. The only way I resolve this is delete my server folder and then install everything again. Most time we overwrite the AMX folder with the new patch.

- Map crash on transition (memory dealocation error). (use AMX and Restarter as workaround)

just reinstall your AMX

And still when we do skycastle... no chest spawn at all... I did that map like 7 times LEGALLY! no chest spawns...

And I think someone needs to say something about fang's tooth dagger...
IT IS FREAKING OLD WEAPON AND NOT ANY BETTER THAN PFCK ALRIGHT!

I am getting tired of hearing people saying "OMG OMG OMG I GOT A NEW WEAPON... FANG'S TOOTH DAGGER!"

Hmmm... Actually, when I played with it without the AMX it does the same thing - it seems to do with the transition at Keledrosprelude2 having extra letters in the map name. These extra letters get saved with the character on map change, and screw up the validator. It works fine if I mark "keledrosprelude2keledrosruins" as a valid source map for the map nazi.

The betapackage only updates one file in the AMX, and that's the map vote system.

*sigh* Still no chest spawn on Skycastle eh? I r running out of idears for that.

I dunno what's up with the fangtooth rant... It's just more fun cuz it turns people green. ;)

if I wrap to skycastle on march patch... I can get the chest to spawn. It never spawn anymore on anyone's server and on mine.

Meh, I have yet another, drastically different attempt in APR2007b...

it doesn't spawn when you do the whole map from lowlands to skycastle. It only spawn when you just wrap on skycastle in march patch. Sometime if spawn 2 chest and 4 chest.

also for the rare items such as Chain Lighting... If you do foutpost on Hell's Diner, Thothie's, Blasto's or Reveloution server. You have a chance of getting CL in about .1%. If you create your own server and play foutpost yourself. You can see CL few times. I played foutpost yesterday on my own server for 4 games. I found CL 2 out of 4. You get more rare items when you make your own server.

That thar be utter and complete bs, I've tested quite throughly, the randomizer stays the same. It is true, you have less people to rob you though.

4 chests... on skycastle? That's... interesting...

that is only in march patch!

in ms_snow... if you kill the Ice queen the first 2 times. it automatically kill you. no xp is lost! But it makes me walk forever! DAMN IT!

the ice queen is harder than before. I can see the health of ice queen in console. Whenever you die it gain more than 25% of the health. More likely 45%... There is a issue that you can get stuck a lot on ms_snow with arrows and raven mace. then you will have to kill yourself or reconnect... I love the ice reavers that gives out over 1,800 XP! ms_snow is a great map for higher levels to leveling on.

I say it's intersting as the march version has them spawned with the world, and there's only 2 entities and no way for them to spawn again - there's no target name or such with which to make more, and there's no way for the script to make more... Someone's been editing maps.

So we have download the map that isn't the legal version of yours?

I played skycastle all the way through with the march patch, and got chest at end, but it had nothing rare in it. I've played it all the way through once on april patch but the chest didn't spawn.

I'm curious as to why gauntlets are so weak. A skullblade which is easy to get does three times more damage at level 10 than gauntlets at level 18. Gauntlets just seem to add like +2 dmg and are harder to get for a lower level character.

By the way, your patches are amazing Thothie, I really like everything that's being added :).

Well, I think the regular gaunlets should be buyable in some towns. There are many kinds of swords, axes and maces etc. buyable in every town, but the poor martial artist has to fight himself through hords of enemys.

By the way, i bought X for Y in Z - bug? :oldshock:

It gains 100% back from killing in its 3rd form, and by killing I mean anything. If it breaks an icewall it gets full health again, or atleast it used to.

Btw I got 3k XP from it by using nothing but jagged arrows :p.

yea there is a bug on the ice queen... if I golden axe the ice queen I will die... It doesn't give me damage or xp loss... I just DIE! It is like killing the boss vampire and your the 2nd command vampire... Boss = Die then 2nd Command Vampire = die too! But I ain't no ice qeen's ***ch.

I think thats a bug... Someone edit about the potion please! I don't want Thothie to see it!
