Sick of the land of Daragoth? Why not head on over to the land of Arathas instead? The old mod Wizard Wars has been revived from the dead, at least partially. They have a brand new team of developers and a new beta, but hardly any players. Dridje is running a very dedicated buggy server, so head on over and check out all of the wonderful work completed by Master Sword: Continueds official modeling team.

I should point out that Lord K's forum rules don't allow us to advertise for other mods here (save maybe MSS) - but umm... I am on the Wizard Wars team, and I can tell you - that's the Wizard Wars we put out over four years ago now.

The current Wizard Wars team is headed by AirstrikeIvonivov, but it is a Source project. Maybe this is that PR effort he was on about...

I'm still hosting the code source however, so I suppose anyone can do anything with it, really. >_>

Meh, maybe I'll try hosting a WW server again - the last two years I ran one (from 2006-2008), and got maybe one player on a month. There's no solo-mode in Wizard Wars - it's an MP a game: litterally TFC with wizards - so there's nothing to do on your own. (Although I think Codiac managed to get us some basic bots.)

eh?

Then that rule should be taken less lightly, since most of the threads advertising other mods by me have gone for a long time

Got 5 or 6 MSC regulars in on a game today - first I've had in maybe three years. Twas fun, although some of these maps get old pretty fast.

I've got the bots in, but there's no way to let the clients remove them without coding up an AMX plugin (from scratch, as I don't have an archive of my old config.) They are all named after MSC NPC's, so that should let you spot them.

Seems there's some core maps missing from this package - but the soccer map is there - ww_wolteg.bsp

I think someone just took version 1.2.9 and stuck a new label on it... Fissure doesn't seem to be working, so maybe someone did do something though. (Client.DLL seems to be compiled in 2008 - so maybe that's where it is - maybe the dragon breath combo won't crash after all.)

PS. Bind something to "dismount" to unmount dragons.

Please remove that damn ww_2fort map from your rotation because it's the worst map for bots.

this is great, I loved wizard wars back when it had regular players.

In case ye hadn't noticed - the bots are utterly retarded, and can't even find their way out of the spawn on at least half the maps. I've not seen what they do on Sky Tower, but I shudder to think on it.

I'm just gonna axe the bots for now - thinking they be doing more harm than good - if ye really wanna play, you'll have to get some friends together, I'm afraid. You can IM and invite me - but only if you really wanna try to prevent a 2010 patch release (and get mauled by my frostmage). ;)

edit: Also allowing thornplants in deathmatch - as an engineer is pretty useless without his sentry.
