I can't seem to get my server to show in my browser, but I have been able to get someone to connect to my server after I provided the IP to them.

My computer is directly connected to the wall as far as internet goes, and I've opened the ports in my firewall.

Any suggestions?

This is a common issue to which I've yet to find a solution (or manage to duplicate on any of my systems).

So far the only thing that's helped anyone, is to copy the steam_appid.txt (supplied in JAN2010) from the msc folder, to the root HLDS folder, and to the Valve subfolder there of.

Another, probably more superstitious thing to try, is to try typing "heartbeat" in console, and/or add it to your server.cfg.

As always, make sure all the ports described in the HLDS tutorial are open, but sometimes even this doesn't resolve the issue (and may not be practical if you have crappy router). It maybe there's yet another port involved. :/

Adding the steam_appid.txt and heartbeat seems to have fixed it for me, thanks.

People should be able to see my server on the list now, so far I've had one random person join and one friend confirm that it's on the list.
