When looking at the enemy (or otherwise NPC) it would be helpful, not only to see the name and allignment, but also the health state. Not in absolute values, but at least a percentage.
That would help alot killing tough bosses.

howbout similar to PVK 2?

"perfectly healthy"
"a few cuts and bruises"
"looking pretty bad"
"about to die"

that'd work, right? :D

I kind of like not knowing because that is more realistic. and you learn what you can and cannot fight

Yep, this PVK idea is nice.

And it is not unrealistic to see how damaged your friend or foe is: have you ever seen a real human what was injured? It is sure the same for boars, bears, spiders and orcs.
Also, it would help me to know whether someone needs healing or not.

We've been over this.

Still waiting on a health bar sprite in the ART forum before I start attempting to make it into a client-side effect.

needing to know if someone needs healing is coming fairly soon i think...

thothie put up a request for a 30-frame sprite, i think its to indicate hp.

but about that..i hope its not tied to the party system, because the party system is bugged to hell, just make it so that when people start taking damage the bar appears, and when they stop taking damage for 5-10 seconds it goes away.

Ah, have you a link to the thread where it is requested?
What level of quality is needed? Something simple like the stamina/weight bar? If yes, I could do that within few days.

About the bar disappearing, I am against. What if a friend of mine is about to die but hasn't taken damage for 15 seconds? I won't be able to know that he needs healing.

10-20 frames easier to work with... See the ART forum, only sticky there. Been discussed at length in more than one thread.

I could do it, but I need to concentrate on doing the things other people can't do (scripting, etc). ;)

its in the art forum, in that requests sticky...

i think all thats required is a translucent meter with 20-30 frames, i'd suggest a grey-ish outline with red health bar inside, no numbers.

My information.
The health indicator you're talking about... I think it'd be cool if it was attached to the "Wisdom" stats... making it so the higher your wisdom, the stronger the monster you can view's HP... That way, you wouldn't be able to tell if you are about to kill something really powerful when you yourself are pitifully weak :)

I don't even request a HP view. A simple status unhurt/hurt/wounded/almost dead/dead would be enough.
