They may not have wanted to, but they sometimes ban for nothing. I once restarted Steam because it wasn't responding, when I got it back up and logged in BAM!! ban-hammered.

If it's true then that sucks. :/ Don't they at least tell you how you "cheated"? I mean in what way did you cheat that gave them a reason to ban you? I should think that you're given a chance to explain as well...but I guess I'm stupid not to realise that it isn't always possible .

Did you use that HL graphics enhancing program on a vac-supported server? I know of a few people that happened to. I don't use it for that reason and the fact that it MAKES EVERYTHING TOO BRIGHT.

And I actually dont play often on VAC servers
Maybe 1/16 of my time im playing

Thou I'm sure I've told you, but to anyone else, put -insecure on your command line for starting up a server. I don't know how to make my server "VAC-secured", so I put that in my command line and I don't have to worry about steam throwing a hissy fit over my server being "VAC-secured" or not.

VAC doesn't work that way. (People reporting you)
It flags your account when you're caught running a known cheat/hack.

That's all I was told. He's really good at most games and I've never seen him cheat before. Who knows though :roll:.

Actually, it'll go off at any program that hooks the Valve base exe or DLL's in certain fashion. Tis why Bloom Mod causes a VAC ban - not because it's a "known cheat" but because it hooks the rendering engine in a way that could be used to cheat. It maybe certain aggresive active-memory virus scanners and such may cause it too.

I've not been VAC banned yet, but I tend to get temp banned for a week or two with every minor steam update, till I find a solution on some obscure German gamer board. ><

I downloaded bloom mod after being banned. Then I decided to uninstall it again cause Cleicert + glow + bloom = white screen of death. Same goes for ms_snow.

I can't stand glow on Cleicert either...I just don't get it, there is enough lighting but people keep activating those damn glows.

Speaking of bloom mod, is there any way I can play half-life/opposing force/blue shift without risking my steam account? I just don't want to risk it... :roll: Like is it possible with a WON version of half-life?

There should be a mapper toy that disables a player's glow.
