Bloodstone quest bug?

I think I've encountered something in the bloodstone ring quest, and I've searched on the forums and couldn't find an answer. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I don't know.
Anyway, I'm up to deralia on the Bloodstone ring quest, and I've talked to [chain of events]

Thordac > Slinker > Inn Keeper > Musor > and now I'm on Charthain (Guy in barracks)

Anyway, I press f on Charthain and click "Ask about ring", and nothing happens. I was wondering if this was a bug or if there's something I should so first. I already did hail, rumours, jobs (which does nothing), etc., and I've reloaded the map a couple times, with no results.
I'm not sure if this goes here but I'd like to know if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong.

Do you already have a bloodstone ring? I'm not sure but you could try quickly dropping the current ring and talking to him. I've never encountered this error so I have no ideas besides the above (If you already have a ring..)

Exactly what Dridje said. I redid the Bloodstone quest a few days ago with my main character to twi... erm I mean: equip my storage character with a Bloodstone ring, and I had to temporarily drop my own Bloodstone ring to get Cathain to talk about the new one.
