Lol everyone lol with lol their lol own lol thoughts, lol and lol this lol poll lol is lol officially lol BS lol.
Lol you lol get lol that lol?

Anyone with a damn brain can figure that this poll is/will be a fraude.

As for me, i voted for Jon, because i do feel like he has the best work from all the entries, followed by shin possibly. Both don't seem to show any negative aspects to me, or i fail to sense any at all...

Avacado did an ok job with his entries, his first entry looked good at start, but i got to admit the choice on the letters/coloring are kinda horrible...

Cal's entries, first one would have been alot better if it was a group screenshot, showing off various enemy encounters behind the ms:c dude. Second one would have looked better if it was another group screenshot, except with more players only. The letters and coloring are too simple and yet not bad, still better than ava's that's for sure.

Franky... the concept does look funny and could have been better. I would probably place better screenshot's for the last 2 steps, because there are better maps that could indicate to a better treasure feel, such as umulak or catacombs. And that "and much more!" just resumes to grinding, obviously. Letters are on par with ava's.
Also why did you highlight the treasure chest? :Troll:

Why its a fraude? multiple accounts?

Then I guess the best would be to not give any prize at all. This whole flaming wouldnt happen without those gifted games as prizes.
Seriously this board is quite obscure yet it gathers the most psycho nerds, not even GameFAQ boards can top this.

Yes that's a good reason why it could be a fraude.
You can also add more things like:
ask random people ingame and on steam to come here and vote on you without voicing their own opinion/thoughts on the work done.

I think this poll would have gone better if it requested every voter to state what they liked or not on each entry, it could be easily "exploited" as it is, and i'm pretty sure it has been already.

If there were no rewards, people wouldn't bother making those entries... Not everyone in general, but i'm pretty sure some wouldn't bother participating without getting something in return.

Not sure if the rewards being secret would make this better, at least people wouldn't be as greedy to fight for the top by pulling of cheap tricks in order to win something, because they wouldn't know what they would win.

Anyways, it's Red cell's problem, this poll could use a little bit of smashing...

This kinda.. would be a lot more fair if it was compulsory for people to state the reason why they voted for that specific person

I... Don't see any evidence of that, and the numbers are within reason. I've not voted myself, but if you want to add that to the rules, I don't see why not - though some folks aren't very good at describing why they do or don't like something - and given the friction - some of it maybe motivated by liking or not liking someone, as well.

Yes, the numbers are reasonable, it's a small community afterall even though it's not that hard to figure out who brought/persuated people to come here just to favor the poll to their side. That's not fair for other people if you ask me. People always do that in comunities who make voting polls to decide about something.

Take it as an example of redirecting someone here for 10 minutes, to make a forum account, come straight to this poll and vote for X option and then leave. This happens alot sadly.

Well, there's no flood of recent mysterious new users in the member data base either. So... Yeah, I think we're clean here, as far as false registration fraud is concerned.

If anyone wants my opinions though...

Echo717's (edit) are alright, but they seem very vertically stretched for me. It maybe just because I'm an old foggie that can't stand wide screen, and thus still use a giant clunker of a 4:3 monitor though.

Franky's is very crisp, and a nice montage, but not very functional as wallpaper - couldn't make out icons against that. Plus the jaggies get to me.

Jon50559's first one is interesting, and looks like it took a lot of work, but in addition to being dated, kinda does more to demonstrate the flaws in the transitions, that aren't really designed to work directly, than it does anything to demonstrate the size of the world, (in addition to providing the illusion that Sfor and ms_snow are connected somehow). To handle that last task, however, it'd have to be a hell of a lot larger, and would involve a lot more work.

Jon50559's second one, however, is absolutely f*cking beautiful. It's the sort of screen shot that makes you go "Dude, that's goldsrc!?". If only all of MSC could be as pretty as that Rickler map, and that panoramic shot is just wonderful.

Caluminium's first one suffers from a bad font transition, but other than that is fairly lovely. As much as I hate the obnoxious blur that the Depth of Field function creates in most games, it almost makes me wish we actually had it. It'd be worth it, if it also somehow cut down on the wpoly via LOD filter, the way some modern games do, and allowed us to stuff more details into each area.

Cal's second one is even nicer, doesn't suffer from the font shift due to the arraignment... But it also suffers from the jaggies, in addition to being a bit heavy on the white space. Again, low-resolution screen shots really need the anti-aliasing enabled. The text is anti-aliased at least.

And Shinitenshi's... Prick though he may come off as... I have to admit, in terms of functionality, that's one of the better ones. The muted saturation and blur makes it easy to read against, for the most part. So I wouldn't be so quick to write it off due to personal prejudice against the artist - though it still pales against Jon's Shad Palace wallpaper, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality.

Just my 2¢

Although I didn't vote I'll still explain why:
Since I have some entries in the competition I think my vote would be too biased and unfair, so I'll abstain.

However, from an objective standpoint I'll agree with Thothie and say my and Shinitenshi's entries are the strongest ones.

Even I don't know...
I voted for Jon because I am a huge fan of shad palace...
Very well made map and the picture describes that well enough and does a good job at showing the "feel" that master sword tries to give off.

Jon's first one looks pretty nice other than the fact than the levels overlap making it look awkward, his second one though looks really, really good.

This poll should still be renamed to:

"Who do you like the most contest voting!"

or

"Voting Contest: How many votes can you gather!"

fyi

tbh

>_>

<_<

>_<

Really now, this should be closed.

Votes right now are as follow:
Echo- 8 votes
Franky- 8 votes
Jon- 7 votes
Cal- 1 vote

This makes me laugh!

I do admit to asking 2-3 people to vote for me, but really I just asked people to vote, probably they just mistaken that I told them to vote for me. This should really be closed because its just turning into favoritism and what zeus said...

I'm not going to close this contest. I've personally spent way too much time and money to get this going.

The intent of this contest was to bring the MS:C community together for a fun and enjoyable time where people could positively contribute to MS:C by making some great content.

If you want to remove yourself from the contest, just let me know. But as far as I know, everyone is going to win something and everyone did a great job making some cool wallpapers. Stop being so dramatic about this. If it calms everyone's nerves, I'll look into getting a panel of judges for next year.

wellp ignoring drama

I voted for myself because I'm arrogant like that

~franky's wallpaper, the picture borders seem clunky and out of place and the fonts seem too big and too "normal"

~jon's I love his shad one, the other world map one, I feel like it should include every map

~cal's mmm lodagond one was a good idea but it doesn't seem implemented well, perhaps if there were some giant skeletons running toward you and everything but the players and the skeletons were in focus with everything else blurred a bit.

Ok, lets keep this going then...

I myself was thinking a few weeks back on donating 1 or 2 games to that list for people to pick from, good thing i didn't.
Maybe next time yeah? Things need to be kept on the line and i figured that this would turn out bad.

I guess ill have my go at the reviews:

Echo717's wallpapers are alright I guess but seem pushed in (take the skeleton in the bloodshrine screenshot as an example), other than that its a nice montage of pictures.

Jon's first one has a really nice idea but the levels overlap (can't really blame him because it isn't his fault). His second one is beautiful though.

Caluminium's is pretty good other than it looks jagged. Nothing much else to complain about.

My reviews:

Echo717 - The first wallpaper he made is a nicely laid out montage, the screenshot choices are good too. My only criticism for this one is the ugly text, he could of chosen a much better font type and colour for it. As for the other wallpapers he made, they look far too compressed, and again, he could of chosen a better font type and colour.

Franky200 - Nice looking wallpaper containing the features of MS:C, the font isn't as bad as Avacado's, but it still needs improvement. Some choices of screenshots could be improved too, mostly the 'Find Treasure' and 'And Much More!' boxes.

jon50559 - Great idea for his first wallpaper, the execution isn't as good as it could be though (overlapping, unsmooth edges). His second wallpaper is probably the best one in this contest, beautiful map, beautiful shot, just overall beautifully executed. Well worthy of being the winner of this contest.

Caluminium - Meh.. all I'm going to say is that I wish I spent more time and thought on my wallpapers.

I voted for jon since his images appeared to be of the highest quality and seemed to have taken the largest amount of time and work in order to complete. His ideas were also all very original.
