Yeah, I always will press the bloom button to where it says "Off," but I'll still get horrendous lag even on the smaller maps. Do I still have to do it in console like you say or is it just my computer's slow?

Dunno' if you've had this happen before... Back when I was on Windows 7 and 8, every time I played single-/multi-player, I would always jump to desktop with a "Memory caching error or whatever" window. Normally, this was easily solved by just exiting the window and returning to MS:C. Recently...

Positive. Otherwise, I'd be saying "December patch isn't helping," because the patch I got said FEB2015a. I think they are from past incantations, maybe? Of course, I've been playing since 2012 however, so I doubt that they are from something I downloaded.

Yes, but I think the dates for both dlls are the same for both the installer and the patch, and no, I prefer to play on [FN] servers.

Gargh, it still won't work, even after I did both the regular patch AND the quick patch. Does this mean I'll have to uninstall and reinstall MS:C or what?

I recently learned that MS:C had been updated, because I tried to play a server today, and it wouldn't let me because of "Client out of date." However, when I installed the patch, it still says "Client out of date." What gives? :x

Ahh, so I'm basically re-installing the game. I gotcha. Oh, and my Half-Life path doesn't have my name in it, so I'm good on that.
