When I'm shooting arrows from a bow, they just kinda seem to lob off the end of it. Doesn't really feel like arrows have any sort of glide to it. The phoenix bow is really bad about this. It seems to shoot downwards a little, mildly annoying. :\

Different arrows have differing weights, though they all start to arc from the instant they are fired (this is technically true of even crossbow bolts, they simply fire so fast that it's nullified). I'm not sure how much universally changing their weight would mess with them - might mess up some mobs too, as some of the older ones use the same projectile scripts the players do.

Maybe rather than a weight change, maybe just a limit to how much it drops?

...which is determined by weight and velocity...

Physix. Elven arrows fly further because they are lighter, etc.

Frame by frame control is generally too resource intensive, in addition to awkward.

Does the archery skill level affect how far arrows go? Like if you have level 1 it wouldn't go very far, but if you had level 25 it would go further since you are more skilled with the bow, or even the type of bow?

Archery skill affects the COF, slightly. The bow affects velocity. The highest velocity bow (excluding xbows) is the Elven Longbow, while the lowest is the Orc Bow, followed by the Shortbow and Thornbow.

I suppose I could put, say, a 15%-20% increase of launch strength on all the bows without worrying about it messing with the mobs - it'd have to be script by script, but there's not all that many of them.

I always thought the Thornbow was the best, or is it just the highest damaging 'normal' bow?

As for the launch strength, that would make them arc a little less or make them a little bit faster?

Thornbow has the highest damage, compensated by slightly less range due to lower velocity (blame thorns magically growing on the arrows, er somethin).

Increasing velocity would make bows fire further.
