I'm trying to get my prerequisite ducks in a row so I can see how deep this rabbit hole goes, but after researching licensing options for earlier versions of Visual Studio, I pulled a product list included in the cloud and perpetual license and it only goes back to 2005. Am I correct in assuming the VS version I am looking for is the VS 2003 .NET? Are subsequent releases incompatible?

That is the conundrum - further, the current HL1SDK isn't compatible with VS2003 - cuz, as we all know, Micro$oft is a bag of dicks.

I can hook you up with VS2003 tools and an older SDK later this eve (though Wizard Wars may do for the latter), but if you feel the scripting is over your head, keep in mind you're now diving into the deepest ocean around.

I was able to open the root sln for Wizard Wars in VS2019 via migrate, so I can atleast poke around. Maybe also ponder my life choices in the process šŸ˜†
