<Thothie Edit>

Quick summary of some of the more common solutions to various issues described in this thread:
(none guaranteed to work)

• Graphics Glitches/Green Screen of Death:
- Add "-nofbo" to launch options
- (To do so, right click MSC's entry in your game library, click Properties, and click Launch Options).

• Mouse bugs
- Option1: Type "m_rawinput 1" in console
- Option2: Run in windowed mode
- At main menu, Options->Video->Mouse, check Mouse Filter

• Combinations of either
- At main menu, Options->Video->
- Toggle "Wait for Vertical Sync"
- Toggle "Low Video Quality"

• Last Resort:
- Use one of the various methods described in this thread to roll back Half-Life to a version older than Febuary 2013.
- This will, sadly, prevent you from playing on RKS or other Steam Pipe HLDS servers.

</Thothie Edit>

Whenever i open the inventory and leave, my mouse messes up and cant move it down, right, or up, only left. I think this may have something to do with vsync added. Maybe a way to force it off?

I have the same problem. Whenever I exit from any in-game menu (character selection screen, mapvote/votelock/player kick menu, inventory screen, merchant sell/buy menu, NPC interact screen, all of them) my view goes straight up and all mouse movements other than movements to the left are ignored. It's fixed by opening and closing either the console or main menu, but needless to say it's very annoying.

I tried unchecking "Wait for vertical sync" in the graphics settings and when that didn't work, I forced it off in my graphics card settings window (Nvidia control panel) but still the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It just gets worse... Double-clicking on an item in inventory doesn't work! I can't select items anymore by double-clicking!

This also goes for wearable items! My shield is now glued to my back :(

Got the same problem with the textures seems, like it interfers with the Steam overlay too, oddly enough, I get MSC textures in my Steam overlay in-game.

Try clicking settings->Beta Participation. Join the Steam Beta update, and restart Steam.

Shouldn't have to double click to select items though.

Bleh, this maybe OS specific then. Though I've not tried leaving the beta and restarting yet. I'll need time to rig up my Win7 boot for Steam. (Although maybe I can Vista-test with the laptop.)

Anyone getting this under XP?

I recently got a report of the overlay picking up textures - which is new, SFAIK. You can try disabling the in-game overlay and see if that helps. (Settings->In-Game)

Also, a video of this meantime may help in figuring exactly what the problem is - maybe we can rig up a work around.

I'm on win7 ult 64bit doing steam beta participation and I'm not getting the mouse issue. I have however seen the messed up textures including seeing my steam chat conversation upside down on Jamipolantz's green barrier.

Is your half-life updated? a way to tell is the updated video options or half-life is now in your common folder.

That must be it I remember pausing the half life update because I was doing something else and it didn't show back up

I seem to have avoided getting the half-life AIDs, though I did have to click cancel on steam randomly verifying files a few times.

I haven't had this problem but Nick the guy I play with has its upsetting that steam has managed to update itself and DOWNGRADE almost every time I gave Nick my half life files and nothing worked still (because I didn't have the problem)
This also happens to any HL game not just MSC amazing program huh? So big but somehow manages to get worse every update. :evil:

Next time don't update your game. You can put it to update manually, if it's automatic, it will download and update at any given time (unless you are playing/offline).

Steam updated a few times for me, half life didn't because it's set to manual, and i have no issues ingame.

I've found a temporary fix for this, I'll explain it now:

WARNING: this will not work if you don't have your old half-life installation anymore, sorry, you're going to have to wait for valve to fix it.

1. Backup your Half-life folder in steamapps/common

2. Now then go to where your old hl installation was (in your username's folder ex. madman20015/half-life)

3. Copy that half-life folder to your common folder.

4. Disable half-life updates by right clicking HL in your library, goto properties and disable updates.

5. Have fun :)

it would be glad if someone upload the old half-life to rks or some network drives
hence other players could solve the problem

Funny, years back I built a new computer specifically for CS. Ran perfect @ 100fps for a year, steam launched, and broke everything. Could never keep a constant 100 after that.

Built a new computer last year, managed to play all my old games perfectly again, woohoo.
Let steam update, and as SOON as I seen the new updater I KNEW I was FUCKED.
Now I'm back in the same boat, half my games won't even launch. If they do, they act weird and run choppy. (goodbye 100fps)
I also can't seem to figure out where the F steam moved my games. My old folders and custom maps I've downloaded are there, but when I get in-game, it's a fresh install, default config and all. I've even gone as far as deleting all "de_westwood" maps on my computer, restart, start CS, join a server and re-download de_westwood, exit and search my computer for the map. NOTHING, NADDA, WHAT THE slkdjafasd. It's like whenever I get the game to launch, it just runs a new copy, then wipes it clean once I exit, nothing sticks or saves.

My cousin is having no issues with his games performance. In fact, he gets over the 100fps cap now, which I've never seen on HL1/GS.
We have nearly the same exact builds, computer-wise, even down to same monitor/mouse/mousepad, lol...
The only issue he gets is after playing for 5 min his mouse stops responding completely.

I swear steam gets worse with each update. I am convinced they are like any final update for a graphics driver once they put the card in Legacy status. Everything breaks and nothing works the same after that, forcing you to downgrade drivers, upgrade the card, or just give up on gaming.
