I have a question - about server

Hey guys

so today, it was morning, i looked for a new half life mod....
so counter strike is okay, but....it becomes borring... then i downloaded
wizard wars (u know it?) ...it looks good, but nobody plays...
so i found this game and i was amazed about the reviews and the screens,
it sounds like an mmorpg, on the half life engine and, without monthly payings...

but before i download it, I would like to know,...does some servers exist? some public one? because i don´t want to download it when no one is playing ...

please tell me...

To answer your question yes, I happen to be one of the now many people who host a server, although you will find that I am a 24 hour host compared to others.

On another note this particular mod also has a server that hosts specifically the characters that play this mod. However to connect to it or not is a choice, the majority do connect. My server is one of the many that do connect to it.

Well I hope you check it out, because its well worth at least a look.

Yes actually lots of people play this mod. And it seems to be growing more and more. at 3 in the morning, I counted like 7 servers. in the middle of the day theres like 10 to 15.

But really you can't judge a mod you havent played. test it out and see if you like it.

so I downloaded it, and now the self-extracting archive is damaged -.-
now i try it to download on "filefront" hope it works then...

so guys, thx a lot...could you may tell me a little bit about the game is it really like an mmorpg or is it pure hack n slay? ...are there also german players?

It's a non-linear RPG...Kinda like WoW...And I'm sure there's at least one Deutschlander on here somewhere

best to go into this mod not thinking mmo, its close but it still lacks tons of players together in one map, the most you will see in one server playing together is about 8.

Besides that yes its a non-linear RPG, oh and before you discover this the hard way...

specializing = weaker

this is compared against someone who levels all there stats, I should know its what I get for wanting to be a wizard

so now i downloaded it and installed it, i put the folder in my steamapps HL folder....but when i want to join a server it comes "de cl_dll\client.dll is different then from the server" ore something like that...
what to do?

working on only one skill, instead of working all the skills.

I am a wizard so my magic is way higher than all my other skills, magic is also the slowest of all the skills to level.

if you don't train just one skill very high but train on all your skills you will find yourself with more HP and Mana compared to someone like me.

and this is all coop, no fighting one another...

well unless PvP is enabled then people can fight each other.

there is a total of 2 things you have to download.

the main installer: click
you will also need what is called a beta pack, these are found here click the top link it should start the beta pack download, install that and you should be good to go.

I would suggest that you look through the site a bit, all custom maps can be downloaded from that site.

keep in mind that beta pack will be installed second.

other words install the main installer before the beta pack.

The main-installer I have....
the betapack not, but I download it now....atm...

but I think my client.dll file is damaged, don´t know why...but it is...

so however after installing the betapack i try it again...and when it doesn´t work...I give up or I´m looking for a new dll ><

erm...do I also need the patches?
i think i have read something about....

the beta pack will update your sc.dll, it is also the updates your thinking of.

Installing the mod is rather straight forward, its just a matter of finding the two installers.

just keep in mind of two things, the main program gets installed first, then the beta pack.

Each beta pack has all the files you need to update it to that version, as long as you have the latest beta pack everything should be just fine.

and for me its not a real rpg...but...however...
its fun for the breaks..hehe....
