I´, bored so the best idea win for a new MS:C map.

Wrote down the ideas and than vote for best idea and i try my best to create the map :)

Ah sorry... My name is Christopher "Trempler" Lembrecht and i´m a newb Mapper :p

And yes i´m playing MS:C too and now i´m pretty bored and would like to create a map.

Well, the quickest thing to do, would likely be to convert one of your existing maps for MSC.

But the most spectacular map on our wish list would be the Elven Capital of Kray Eldorad, with giant spirals and likely not too unlike the architecture in your first screenshot, save maybe, less flaming. It'd need a good wide open area for a friendly white dragon, areas for shops, the Galat bank's central vault, temple of Felewyn, and surrounding forest area. I don't think you'd have enough room to do both the city, and an Eshu settlement in the forest (Ewok style villa), but you might be able to work in the more dungeon like ruins of Melanion that run beneath the city (likely along the lines of your second screenshot).

No mapper has dared touch this. The only one we have on hand who might be able to pull it off is busy doing his own things, plus I'm a tad worried he might come home and delete it in a moment of drunken rage, deciding he doesn't like his progress. ;)

Yeah, looks like shaders. Are you using the Paranoia renderer or something? Or some custom one, I'm not sure. It looks very good though!

I absolutely agree with Thothie - you need to make the Elven capital city, Kray Eldorad. Also needed are a number of forest maps surrounding the city in every direction, as it lies in the center of the great forest of Eswen Sylen. If you could pull this project off you would have contributed the single most important series of maps to ever be released for the game.

The maps you have posted look like they would be great landmarks on the distant continent of Valen, too.

Well, unlike MSS, we don't have a professional "concept artist". Instead, we have people who actually make models. (/me shakes fist at Vomica...)

Sadly, we don't have much in the way of a description of Kray Eldorad, beyond "spires, lots of spires" (and spires in the middle of the city, needless to say, would not be FPS friendly). The Melanion ruins, that run beneath it, extend far beyond it, for the old capital was a much larger city, made when there were a lot more elves. Despite the steep population drop, the new Elven capital of Kray Eldorad is still, no doubt, the most spectacular city in all the realm. The elves are the eldest of the races, the most proficient with magic, so much of the architecture may reflect that, may haps being dependant on such magics for their very support.

The elves of Kray Eldorad worship a Goddess of Order named Felewyn above all else. So I'd expect to see intricate and mathematically ordered facades that reflect their belief. The Galat Bank, that relies on magic for all its functions, is probably similarly spectacular, and maybe dripping with more gold than the rest of the capital. For a large part, we're probably looking at complex marbles and crystal motiff's interwoven with Elven runes and mosaic patterns. If one were to draw on real world instances, a cross between brightly lit gothic cathedral architecture, taken to impossible heights, and the Islamic tradition of integrating complex mathematics into their structures. Unlike the human cities, the city of Kray Eldorad is also likely almost unnaturally clean, gleaming with perfection. Nothing would be left to chance - so no wood-shale roofs, or loose cobblestones.

Aside from the need for a huge bank, some shop zones, a wide open area for hosting a very large beneficent dragon, and at least one massive temple of Felewyn, all surrounded by forest, you are pretty much free to go wild with it. Although, no doubt, you'll find yourself somewhat constrained by the engine's limitations. You'll likely need very high walls, breaking the city into sections.

The real only stipulation I can think of is that Kray Eldorad would not be a "wood elf" style town, as you see in some RPG traditions. Again, these elves exalt magic and order over nature. I'm sure they have some well ordered gardens and what not, but they've separated themselves from the chaos of nature, feeling that they have risen above it. The tree-hugging thing is more the privy of the Eshu elves, who worship Urdual. Unlike the dwarves, who have been minecrafting marble, obsidian, and gold for the temple style you see in Edana and Gatecity, these elves see the balance of Urdual, first and foremost, in the Balance of Nature, and thus have taken to the forests, building their homes in the trees themselves. Again, I don't think you'll be able to contain Kray Eldorad and the Eshu residences in the same map without hitting limits real fast - but as the Eswen Sylen forest surrounding Kray Eldorad was intended to be a separate series of maps anyways... Should you want to make those sections as well, concept art for elven forest villages is not hard to find. Just, keep in mind, there aren't nearly as many Eshu as the main-line Felewyn elves, and while they are not as actively persecuted as the Rammata elves who worship Torkalath, they are still shunned, and likely would not be allowed to build any settlements large enough to be seen as a threat to Kray Eldorad.

The ruins of Melanion that run far and wide, beneath Kray Eldorad and beyond, are corrupted with rage and evil. They come from an age when magic utterly ruled the elven way of life, and the elves themselves ruled most of the world with astounding oppressive force. As such, the shattered underground ruins will likely reflect the darker side of the architecture above, perhaps with more ostentatious depictions of war and strength, as well as battle damage. You can feel free to light the winding caves with magical artifacts of the previous city, which are no doubt to be found in abundance. The magic in the ruins has saturated to the point where most elves will not dare to explore them, so most of the avenues to them are sealed off, but there should be one or more ways that the players can find to enter them, with effort, in addition to, perhaps, one or two officially recognized, but guarded entrances. There will also need to be paths for transitions leading to the rest of the outlaying ruins.

TL;DR: Like I said, the architecture in your first pic is fine, just, less flaming. ;)

The curse drives them to hatred of all other living things, even the elves who once called this place home. Kray Eldorad posts guards to watch these subterranean halls at all times.

Eswen Sylen

The Forest of Giant Trees. Trees here are massive, reaching hundreds of feet into the air, with trunks as wide as 40 feet. Home to many fey creatures, Eswen Sylen is a silent forest slowly recuperating from the angry screams of the Blood War. It is a place of ancient magic and mystery: the elves have dwelt here longer than the sages can keep record. It is said that Felewyn created the elves from the trees and plants that grow here, in the soft light under the great swinging canopies.
That is not to say it is without danger, however. Whispers of Fallen Elves and creatures of terrible power that lurk deep in the roots of the great trees still find their way to the lips of Elven children here. When an elf-child goes missing, it is often said that the Lurks took him, and even adult Elves will admit that they believe in the evil shadow creatures.
