Birds4.wav?

So I'm trying to join a server on daragoth, and the game wants to download "Birds4.wav" but it just holds up on the loading screen.

The game isn't frozen, I can hit cancel and go back to the menu just fine but the game doesn't seem to want to load past this point. Maybe someone could send me this file please?

Custom version of the map? I don't have it... It *should* just download it, but if the server connection is bad and no alternative sv_download is defined, it might fubar.

You can simply copy any .wav file in amb to birds4.wav, and it should work though. Just might result in an odd sound somewhere - maybe one looping where it shouldn't, or visa versa. If your Daragoth's structure doesn't match the server's, however, you'll end up getting booted in the end.

Happens on official servers. I've seen it happen before, where I would have to download a sound file for a specific map in msc but it never hung up like that.

I do see it try to download files I already have from time to time - though this one isn't anywhere in the archives, so IDK why it's asking for it. It maybe sv_download is pointing to an unreachable server since the RKS transplant as well.

You might need to wait. It should connect eventually.

Just give it an extra hour, just to be sure.

I tested this. I was able to connect to the server set to daragoth without any issues on the client end. The server however did spit out

Warning: Unable to open sound/amb/Birds4.wav for transfer

in the console

You left the server. Now birds4.wav will find you.

Think I'm just gonna copy bird10.wav to birds4.wav in the patch and hope it prevents this.

Gimme a heads up if you run into a similar situation with another file somewhere. If it similarly doesn't exist in the install, I'll try to find a filler for it. (Maybe use a null.wav, so it doesn't do anything unexpected.)

Mind that you report the path of the file too (in this case /amb/birds4.wav).
