On "How much content will i miss" was looking for a rough ballpark (% or item/area count) of stuff I will NEVER be able to do or get without other people, I know I read somewhere there a a handful of items you cannot get solo
As far as I know, you can't get the following items solo because they require at least two (or, in one case, three) players to spawn:
  • Armor of the Phoenix
  • Axe of Chaos
  • Stormpharaoh's Lance
  • Shadow Lance
  • Orion Bow
There are actually a few more items that are also unobtainable solo but only in particular maps. What I mean is: Some items spawn in multiple maps but are only unobtainable solo in one of them, so they're not really unobtainable solo overall. The Torkalath blade is a good example. It spawns in a low/mid-level map but only if there are at least two players in-game but it also spawns at the very end of one of the hardest maps in the game.

There might be more items that are really unobtainable solo but I haven't found any conclusive proof yet. Anyway, four items is indeed (more or less) a handful so that's not so bad.

Then there's this one particular section in this one particular map that's impossible to solo, which means you also won't be able to get the:
  • Icy Crescent Blade

Last but not least there's quite a few items that:
  • spawn in (very) hard maps that are only soloable if you've got the proper skills, equipment and tactical knowledge;
  • have notoriously low spawn chances;
  • both of the above
As far as I'm concerned, this applies to the following items. Note that this list might be a bit personal because it's based on my in-game experience. So if someone else says "Hey, [item X] isn't that hard to get." then that person might've been more lucky with the spawn chances than me. Anyway, the list:
  • Armor of Bravery
  • Aura of Fire
  • Helm of Venom
  • Torkalath blade
  • Dark Sword
  • Hoarfrost Shard
  • Blood Drinker
  • Blood Blade
  • Unholy Blade
  • Bear Claws
  • Ethereal Dagger
  • Crescent Blade
  • Flaming Crescent Blade
  • Electrified Crescent Blade
  • Fire Tomahawk
  • Ice Tomahawk
  • Lightning Tomahawk
  • Venomous Tomahawk
  • Dark Tomahawk
  • Axe of Balance
  • Bludgeon Hammer
  • Earth Breaker
  • Thornbow
  • Torkalath Fire Bow
  • Torkalath Frost Bow
  • Torkalath Lightning Bow
  • Torkalath Chaos Bow
  • Heavy Crossbow
  • Steam Crossbow
  • Holy Lance
  • Lance of Affliction
  • Phlame's Staff
  • Dark Staff
  • Healing Circle Tome
  • Tome of Bear Guardian
  • Bag of Holding
  • Ring of Grounding

Far more detailed list than I was expecting, but thank you, good to know it is indeed only a handful of items that will NEVER happen, i can deal with a low chance, as long as there is one.

Having a map extremely difficult is one thing, having it impossible to solo because you have to have another just to spawn the items is another. I am pretty much in the same boat as Green... minus I can not play at all at the moment, online or off... But I think I will still prefer to solo.

A shame you can not play off line and on with some kind of check and balances to ensure you were not cheating on offical servers at least. That way you could play all the lower levels on your own and then group later and only then worry about what map is being played and what the majority wants to do on the server.

For the most part, you benefit in every way from playing with another person. The only down-side of this is a vast majority of our remaining community has taken charge at smothering the remaining members, and new players, with a lead pillow.

Yeah, I would like to be in FN with others, but I've been without broadband at home since a couple months after I was here last. My laptop is also a pile, got one of the early discreet nvidia cards that hasn't worked in years, so even playing at Starbucks (Where I have to do all my download) doesn't happen without a massive BSOD.

The lead pillow comment is interesting, care to elaborate?

From my experience, the opposite is true. When I was new, people were friendly (even enough to give out free items, which looking back on it was a kind gesture but they really shouldn't have) and answered questions I had, some stuck around to run a few things with me. I've even got a few people from MSC on steam and talk with them semi-regularly. For existing players, I'm sure their interests would be in at least keeping the current player base, otherwise I'm sure no one would play. While the quote was in the first version of the discord and is no longer there, I'll do my best to quote it as I believe it holds true with quite a few people. (Not word for word but in getting the point across.)

Edit: The way it's worded makes it look like I'm talking bad at people, that's not my intention :I

I would agree, my little experience with the community has been very positive, save for some weirdness with Max Rideheight back in the day...

Couple things I'm wondering if someone could PM me some hints;

Do the chest(s) in oceancrossing contents depend on destination/who you fight?

What the devil to I do with the expended title ring?

My experience playing on [FN] lately has been great. Seen some new people, seen some old people, almost all of em just great.

As for that expended title ring, or other weird artifacts... I really have no clue. I don't know about such things but I bet one of the wise humans near Edana could tell you a thing or two about them.

Huh.... Guess I just hadn't rubbed the ring against the right NPC yet during all my doodle-god-ing... Thanks, I'll have another look around there.

In other news, beat Slithar last night, after a couple hours of aggravation, that was a looooong and challenging fight, I didn't go down but I had to run away and heal/mana up a loooooot.

Question, I figure I'm probably up the creek here, but is there a way to "forget" or reset memorized tomes? Way back in the day I apparently memorized a bunch of low ones, without paying attention to limit (i wasn't very concerned or learned about magic then) and only have 1 memorization left... Most of my memorizationss are completely useless now, either they don't fit my playstyle (rats are pretty worthless IMO), are completely outclassed by scrolls I have (bolt vs ball), or are completely redundant cause I have the scroll and only cast it once a map anyways (looking at you there, Glow!).

Edited: multiple times... cause my phone and autocorrect are a frickin donkey

Good to know there's a way...

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that if a certain Dread Knight knocks you outa his arena, or you run out cause you finally ran outa pot's... that his health complete regenrates, yes?

All bosses regenerate health over time and gain increased resistance to the players they kill, each time they slay them.

If all the players on the server are slain, most bosses regenerate additional health. This is, of course, particularly problematic, if you happen to be the only player on the server at the time.

(A leadfoot potion or some well timed shield usage might help here.)

Yeah I went in with lesser leadfoot, protection and a bagload of pot's... He never killed me, so I'm just gonna assume I wasn't sending enough damage out fast enough... And yeah, ending up suddenly outside the arena I was like "well... Poop, might as not waste a health potion now,"... sit down with rejuve on passive, probably disnt help my cause.

The tome limit has been removed by the way. Back in the days, attempting to memorize a ninth tome would instantly crash the entire server (and some trolls took advantage of this) but nowadays this doesn't happen anymore.

The only thing that might happen is that your character will become 'too heavy' and overflow, but I'm not sure when, or even if, that'll actually happen. Thothie probably knows more about this.

Also, not all of the 25 unique spells in the game are actually useful (looking at you, Ice Wall) so there's no reason to memorize them all anyway.

Meh, last time I proposed changing how ice wall works I got jumped all over by the people who wanted to keep its explotie mechanic. Granted, I don't think I *can* make it work as intended.

I think, currently, you could memorize every spell in the game without much increased risk of overflow.

Well, looks like my character does have some light reading to do then when I get on tonight... Though, I still want to clean some of the junk out (rats, glow), can someone point me in the right direction of the "brew" I thought maybe one of the magic vendors in the downs I have access too, but their dialogs are rather brief... Or I just have literally not said the right thing

There's a Forest Outpost in need of some reinforcements. Maybe the guy there can help you if you help him.

(not really a forest, but not sure what else the F stands for)

Ahhh yes.... That place, I've been there looking for info on a certain ring... Got my butt stomped in at the time, maybe a few more levels and I'll be ready to go back there. Be nice to kill two birds with one stone.

Some maps are not practical (or easily possible) without a couple people. Especially without the proper gear/levels.

I heard you on the practicallity/possible... I'm at 553hp, 20s in everything but archery(19) spellcasting (14) and axe at 23... I'm at the point where I can get to explore a lot of maps that I couldn't before, but can't tackle the bosses.... None of my weapons/equip are anything special... Dark Helm, Knight Armor... Venom axe is probably the best weapon I've go so far, got PSB, PFCK, Calrain Mace... But yeah, mostly lvl 15 weapons or below (gauntlets :( )...

I rolled back my msc install to what I had before I got back on (sep2013 I think),so CotBG works for me, but the Forest God mopped the floor with me, so no getting drops from there...

As previously mentioned WW3 boss gave me trouble, so can't get his armor yet... The_keep was fun till rogue boss...

I can beat keledros, and have gotten most spells that I think he drops... Still can't get a certain blade to drop from I believe the Djinn before him though....

I've tried getting soups (before rollback) but I'm always missing 1 item, either wheat or mead, can't remember which, it's always the same item though... I can see an area beyond a certain room you drop into with a squisher, but can't acess that area...

Look forward to trying for helmet of stab from I believe boss who lies beyond a certain jade keyhole, but I'm pretty sure I don't have the HP for him yet (i HATE getting stunned with an unbelievable fury)...

So how about it guys? Any tips/tricks/hints or outright "dude you're an idiot, it's right here" PMs for me? My last couple of evenings been feeling like I've hit wall, and have resigned to just grinding levels up, I need somewhere to start, like, a chain reaction of better equipment.... Or at least a better place to farm\grind levels, been doing daragoth, isle and goblins and orcs on oceancrossing
