Dual wielding Suggestion

Seeing as we recently acquired a new weapon skill, and people have been begging for an improved Dual Wielding system, here is my suggestion, as I made it years ago, when I was still in school:

The system


Basically, Another Stat, called Dual Wielding would be added, which would contain either 3 to 6 sub-skills.

Main Suggested Sub-Skills:
- Swords
- Small Arms
- Blunts

Others:

- Axes
- Balance
- Power


How would these work then?

Each of the listed Weapon sub-skills would only be leveled while using the host of "New" weapons that would be created, Mostly the Low end, non-magical, and low leveled magical [ala lesser Ice blades, and similar of powers], and of course, unique weapons created as such. If possible, to further this effect, would be to have it hit twice for the same amount of damage, or just the single bigger number.

How will we get said weapons?

Create "Two handed" Weapons, of either higher speed, or Higher Damage, that are modeled to look like you are holding two of the weapons in question. for example [and these numbers are entirely made up, don't mind it.]

A normal Sword [Lets just say sword] Deals 5 damage, and attacks roughly 2 times a second.

The "Dual Wielded" Item of it would either Deal 10 damage a hit, or attack twice as fast, in effect giving it the "Two weapon" effect, at once.

Swords: Would have a balance of faster attack, and more damage.
Hit rate effected slightly [misses slightly more often than a single one]

Small Arms: Would be faster
Hit rate Effected [Misses a bit more than a single SA weapon]

Blunts: would be more damaging.
Hit rate not changed [not any faster anyway.]
Magical Variations, of course, would be balanced per item.

The Axes, as I listed into the "Others" are too few in number to be dual wielded, as there are next to no one handed axes in the game.

Here is a list of weapons [off the top of my head] That could be made into a "Two handed" Version, for dual wielding.

Swords:

- Rusty/Normal Short Swords
- Envenomed Short Swords
- Wolves bane [I think its a short sword]
- Lesser Ice Blades
- Normal Ice Blade

Small Arms:'
- Nearly all of them...
- In fact, all of them.

Blunts:
- Once more...
- All of them except Lightning Rod [which is listed as a staff in the Wiki anyway.]

Thats all for now, until I think more on such things, and possibly list some suggestions for /unique/ dual weaponry.

Good suggestion. Though i think axes might have more 1 handed weapons compared to blunt...? :?
Also, how would you lvl up balance and power, if you used swords dual wielding sub, wouldnt it make those 2 subs lvl up higher compared to blunt/swords/daggers. Like, you lvl up all those 3 skills to 20, you would end up getting 30 balance and power, for an example. :wink:

Better idea: How about I fix the dual wielding system (as I did months ago, but Thoth has disabled for the moment due to overpoweredness) and we put them back in when we have some balances.

A few months ago I suggested the exact same thing with the same ways to do it and had a similar reply from MiB ;). He's been working on it way before it was suggested.
Fixing dual wielding will bring a lot of new possibilities to the current slow and boring way to attack stuff and I'm looking forward to see it in effect someday!
