wow so much new shit out, i voted for jon his 2nd wallpaper is sweet. amazing job to all of you though, I think all the wallpapers are pretty amazing, I wish i was talented.
i cant really remember what it looks like, I havnt played ns in an incredibly long time. ns1.4 and ns2.0 were my favs. But it is probably a scrolling texture combined with a looping env_shooter thats tossing out some kind of orange sprite or something I dunno.
im pretty sure theres lava in ns_origin, near one of the hives. Its like a big refinery or whatever you call it. I forget the name of the hive but I know for a fact that there is lava there just outside one of the entrances. Also ns_origin is a very beautiful map. Also when is fucking ns2 coming...
Mine does the same thing for aleyesu, but mine will also chain crash over and over again every 5 minutes or so. It says "This map differs from Blasto Back's" and I have to manually change the map to edana.
theres this oscar meyer charity thing I noticed when i was on yahoo. It says to finish this sentence "It doesnt get better than."
I guess they dont proof read the entries:

1- Thornlands - Surprised this isnt #1 on everyones list, this map is simply amazing as a beginner
2- Curse of the Bear Gods Series - Played these maps countless times, the whole series is awesome
3- ms_snow - There was a time when this was THE map to play, it was also the hardest, but great...

maybe try the -subdivide command in hlbsp and set the number higher(default is 240)? It should reduce the number of faces but ive never really messed with it.
the -maxnodesize command may also be worth trying. Good Luck

Thats where I learned most of what I know about mapping. Ive never seriously mapped for source but im pretty sure the main differences would be the lack of displacements, fancy blending textures, props, and 3d skyboxes. Im sure theres more, but if you can...
For Jon's sake i hope youre right. When i bought my x1800 a few years ago i had no choice but to use newer drivers because the card didnt support the older ones. I think they were the catalyst 6.1 drivers where it started to mess up hammer. Hammer worked fine with my older x800gt which used...
The problem is with your video card. Radeon drivers arent the greatest with older opengl applications. I had the same exact problem and the only solution i could find was getting an nvidia card. pretty big price to pay just to map.
i cant really take much credit for this. the only thing i did was make the decision on which box to use. youre absolutely right it's beautiful and well made. Crow might know who made the skybox, pretty sure he found it somewhere and used it in the map ww1.
i run my server with a multicore cpu and it's hella unstable. i think it's a heat problem for me though, for some reason the northbridge is running at 55c.
